Lyrics[]
Powerline:
Yeah, yeah!
Hey, yeah!
I got myself a notion
And one I know that you'll understand
We set the world in motion
By reaching out for each other's hand
Maybe we'll discover
What we should've known all along (Yeah)
One way or another
Together's where we both belong
Chorus: (Treeny:)
If we listen to each other's heart (Oh yeah)
We'll find we're never too far apart
And maybe love is the reason why
For the first time ever, we're seeing it eye to eye
Powerline: (Treeny:)
If a wall should come between us
Too high to climb, too hard to break through
I know that love will lead us
And find a way to bring me to you
So don't be in a hurry
Think before you count us out (Oh)
You don't have to worry
I won't ever let you down (Nothing's gonna stop us now)
Chorus: (Treeny:)
If we listen to each other's heart
We'll find we're never too far apart (Oh yeah)
And maybe love is the reason why (Oh yeah)
For the first time ever, we're seeing it eye to eye
Powerline: (Chorus:)
(Love is why we're seeing it eye to eye) Yes, we are
Treeny: (Chorus:)
(Eye to eye, we're seeing it) Seeing it eye to eye
Powerline: (Chorus:)
(Love is why we're seeing it eye to eye) Seeing it eye to eye, yeah
Treeny: (Chorus:)
(Eye to eye, we're seeing it) Seeing it eye to eye
Powerline: (Chorus:)
(Love is why we're seeing it eye to eye) I think we're seeing it eye to eye, yeah
Treeny: (Chorus:)
(Eye to eye, we're seeing it) Eye to eye
Powerline: (Treeny:)
If you're ever lonely, then stop!
You don't have to be
After all, it's only
A beat away from you to me (Take a look inside and see)
Yeah!
Chorus:
If we listen to each other's heart
We'll find we're never too far apart
And maybe love is the reason why
For the first time ever, we're seeing it eye to eye
Powerline: (Chorus:)
(Seeing it eye to eye) Seeing it eye to eye, baby
(Eye to eye) Whoa
Treeny: (Chorus:)
For the first time (Seeing it)
Powerline: (Chorus:)
For the first time (Seeing it eye to eye)
(For the first time ever, we're eye to eye)
Treeny:
Seeing it
Powerline: (Chorus:)
Seeing it, baby (Seeing it)
(Seeing it eye to eye)
(For the first time ever, we're eye to eye)
Yeah
Treeny:
For the first time ever
Powerline: (Chorus:)
(Seeing it)
Yeah, baby, we're seeing it
(Seeing it eye to eye)
(For the first time ever, we're eye to eye)
Eye to eye
Treeny:
Eye to eye
Powerline: (Chorus:)
Yeah!
(Seeing it) Come on, baby
(Seeing it eye to eye)
Treeny: (Chorus:) Eye to eye (For the first time ever, we're eye to eye)
Powerline: Eye to eye
Treeny: Eye to eye
Powerline: Eye to eye
Treeny: (Chorus:) Eye to eye! (Seeing it)
Powerline: (Chorus:)
Yeah (Seeing it eye to eye)
Treeny: (Chorus:)
Eye to eye (For the first time ever, we're eye to eye)

Trivia[]
- The song's title, "I2I", is meant to pay homage to kinds of titles that Prince's songs had, like "I Would Die 4 U".[1]
- Powerline was inspired, among several artists, by Prince. His voice actor, Tevin Campbell, was considered Prince's protege, and his debut song was both produced by him and featured in his film Graffiti Bridge. "I2I" was produced by Prince's producer, David Z, and was recorded at Prince's record studio Paisley Park Records. Rosie Gaines, who voiced Treeny, was a former member of Prince's band The New Power Generation.[1]
- The song's accompanying dance was created with live-action reference, choreographed by a real dancer based on the existing storyboards. This makes the dance unique, in that it is replicable and genuine, rather than something created by the animators.[1]
- Kevin Lima "wanted to create a dynamic that separated Powerline being more grounded in the choreography that he does, as opposed to Max and Goofy, who can slide across a 50-foot stage, fall from the rafters, blow up, and who can do The Perfect Cast."[1]
- This along with Powerline's other song Stand Out are some of few Disney songs to not be dubbed in other languages, even though the movie and the rest of the songs are dubbed into various languages.
- This song was sung live at the 20th anniversary panel at the 2015 D23 Expo along with "On the Open Road".
- In April 2019, this song was sung by Uchechukwu Walter Ndubizu-Egwin-Okoli, known professionally as Uché, on American Idol.[2]
