"I Go Down With the Ship" is the fifteenth episode of the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It was released on January 14, 2026, and is the seventh episode of season two.
Synopsis[]
With a friend in danger, the heroes must risk everything to continue their quest.
Plot[]
While healing from the Golden Fleece, Annabeth has a vision of Thalia. She awakens mostly healed, but Alison and the rest of the rogue demigods take the Fleece to give to Luke.
The Princess Andromeda docks at Port Jefferson where demigod Aidan is captured by Percy, Clarisse, Grover, and Tyson. They take his access card, but Percy and Clarisse disagree over the method of going about their mission. They agree to split up on the ship: Clarisse will go after the Fleece, while Percy will go and rescue Annabeth. Grover and Tyson stay at the port to find a way back to camp as the Iris Message system is down.
Luke applies the Fleece to Kronos's casket, though the process is slow due to his long inactivity. Upon getting on the ship, Clarisse finds the weapons cache, but is forced to hide when the rogue demigods come to converse with each other. Percy incapacitates another demigod before freeing a black pegasus named Blackjack who was forced there against his will. Percy soon sneaks off to find Annabeth who tells him an epiphany she had. Due to the Fleece's power, they could potentially bring back Thalia, though she is uncertain if it will work. Percy hides as Luke comes, but when Annabeth tells him her idea, he seemingly balks at it.
Back at port, Grover and Tyson reluctantly call Sally to come and get them, much to her consternation. While Luke argues with Annabeth over the Fleece's power, Kronos psychically urges Alison to get rid of a "traitor" for him. Luke is soon called away as Annabeth attempts to make her escape. When Allison goes to get the the rest of the demigods, Clarisse decides to go and rescue Annabeth instead.
Percy gets the Fleece, after having a mocking psychic conversation with Kronos, but is stopped by Luke and the two fight. Clarisse catches up to the demigods as she and Annabeth take them all out. Percy flees with the Fleece and despite getting stabbed is able to heal himself. Upon the three heroes trying to escape, Blackjack gets rid of the rest of the demigods. Percy realizes that Clarisse's oracle to "fail without friends" and "fly home alone" meant that she needed friends to finish her quest, something she has been denying. Percy has Clarisse take the Fleece back to camp via Blackjack.
Sally arrives at the port in time as she takes Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Tyson back to camp. As they ponder whether the Fleece will bring back Thalia, Percy appears to have thoughts about the repercussions. Luke confronts Kronos about the Fleece being able to bring back Thalia, but he urges him to go and join his army at Camp Half-Blood and that he kill Percy.

Book comparisons[]
- Percy and his friends escape to Queen Anne's Revenge, only to get sunk by Polyphemus. They are soon rescued by the Hippocampi who take them all the way to Miami. The series simplifies this by having the Hippocampi immediately take them from Polyphemus's island to Port Jefferson, Long Island.
- In the book, due to still having the Fleece, Percy gives it to Clarisse and puts her in a cab to the airport back to camp. They are then captured by Luke who intends to keep them prisoners on his boat. Because the series had Luke get the Fleece and Annabeth, the entire episode is practically redone with Percy and Clarisse having to get on the ship to rescue Annabeth and get the Fleece. It also leads to Luke briefly using the Fleece on Kronos's casket, only for Percy to get it back.
- As mentioned before, Clarisse took a cab to the airport back to camp, while the series changes it to her taking Blackjack the pegasus back.
- Percy freeing Blackjack is only alluded to in the book. The series shows him rescuing him in great detail.
- In the book, Percy and Annabeth trick Luke into revealing that he poisoned Thalia's tree to Dionysus via Iris Message, resulting in him lifting Chiron's ban and sending Tantalus back. This whole sequence is rendered unnecessary in the series.
- In the book, Chiron and the rest of his centaur brethren take Percy and his friends back to camp. In the series, it is Sally who takes them back.
- The revelation that the Fleece can bring back Thalia is not deduced early in the book.
Trivia[]
- The title comes from the sixteenth chapter of The Sea of Monsters, while the episode partially adapts that chapter, chapter seventeen, chapter eighteen, and the opening of chapter nineteen.
- The car Sally Jackson uses has a sticker that reads "I'd Rather Be Teaching", which is a nod to Paul Blofis, a teacher she marries in between books 4 and 5.
- This episode features Adrian who is the demigod son of Aphrodite, who will debut in season 3.
