"I Love You Penny Proud" is the sixteenth episode of The Proud Family.
Synopsis[]
Penny is guilt-tripped into forming a relationship with an obnoxious boy in a wheelchair on Valentine's Day.
Plot[]
In the episode, Penny is falsely accused of putting up graffiti claiming she is the best, and is threatened with suspension along with her friends. She and her friends stake out to find who's really doing it, to find it's Johnny McBride, a boy with a wheelchair who wants Penny to be his girlfriend.
Throughout the episode, everyone gives him special treatment because of his disability. The school only suspends him for a few days compared to how they were going to punish Penny. Penny is guilt tripped into being the boy's girlfriend because of his disability, and even Oscar treats him nicer because of his disability.
He eventually joins The Proud Family on a Ski trip, where he acts rude and treats everyone badly. Penny realizes he uses his disability to get what he wants, and that she shouldn't have to be his girlfriend just because he's disabled.
Trivia[]
- Morals:
- People are not always who they seem.
- Don’t assume that all disabled people are going to be nice people. Some of them can be jerks just like abled people.
- Just because someone tells you "I love you" does not give them the free-range to behave badly or walk all over you.
