"I Scream Zoda" is the second segment of the premiere episode of Zombies: The Re-Animated Series. It premiere on June 28, 2024 alongside "Re-Senior Year".
Synopsis[]
Zed creates a new drink called Zoda that turns the entire school into Zoda-obsessed zombies.
Plot[]
Zed and Addison discover that Principal Lee has replaced all the sodas in the school cafeteria with a healthy tasteless drink called "Sans Saveur" which turns out to be disgusting. With the principal turning a blind eye to everyone's disgust over the new beverage, Zed makes it his mission to invent an alternative soda that is flavorable, healthy, and deliciously irresistible. He turns to Eliza for help, who in return does not seriously support his stand for soda, pointing it out as unhealthy and addictive. Zed pleads with Eliza to help him, and after pulling out the "best friend" card, she reluctantly gives in. Zed and Eliza spend hours in the science lab making an alternative soda. However, all their attempts come out being either too "flat" or too "bubbly". Eventually, they only succeed in making a large amount of disgusting brown sludge that everyone is not so keen to taste. Surprisingly, Bucky is the only person who likes it. Eliza then blightingly tells Zed he is not a great inventor and should give up.
While wandering the streets of Zombietown, Zed meets a witch named Ashley who "invites" him into her curse shop. She finds him a recipe for an irresistible sparkling drink. However, she warns Zed that this recipe is cursed. Despite her warning, Zed uses the recipe to make a soda that turns out flavorful, sparkling, and delicious. He calls it Zoda and starts selling it to the school. But as soon as everyone starts drinking Zoda they become aggressively addicted to it and start demanding more. Zed's Zoda has ironically turned everyone into Zoda-crazed zombies.
Zed flees from the Zoda zombies and barricades himself in the science lab. There he finds Eliza, who has also become a Zoda zombie. She attacks him, wanting Zoda. Zed counters her attack by placing a rubbish bin over her head. Just then, Bucky shows up looking for Zed. He has not turned into a zombie despite having drunk the Zoda. Even Zed drank it and did not go all zombie like everyone else. Bucky came looking for Zed because he wanted more of his failure sludge from earlier, calling it a health smoothie. Zed then has a realisation; they both drank the sludge before they had the Zoda, which seems to counteract the Zoda zombification effects. Soon, the whole school breaks into the science lab and staggers towards Zed and Bucky, groaning for Zoda. Together, Zed and Bucky squirt the sludge into everyone's mouths, returning them to normal.
After witnessing Zed's efforts to replace Sans Saveur, Principal Lee realises her students do not like it. But instead of bringing soda back, she replaces Sans Saveur with a new beverage called "Petite Goût", which has four times the flavour than what she was originally offering. The whole school agrees Petite Goût is better and they love it.

- "Sans Saveur" means "Without Flavor" in French. This references the fact it has no flavor.
- "Petite Goût" means "Little Taste" in French. This references the fact that it does not have a lot of flavor.
