Sir Ian Holm Cuthbert, CBE, was an English actor. He was best known for his roles as the android Ash in the 1979 film Alien and as Bilbo Baggins in the trilogies of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. He was also known for portraying Sam Mussabini in the 1981 British historical sports drama film Chariots of Fire, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
For Disney, he voiced Chef Skinner in the 2007 Disney/Pixar film Ratatouille. In Alien: Romulus, Daniel Betts provided the facial and vocal performance of the synthetic Rook while Ian Holm's vocals and likeness from 1979 were superimposed in place of the actor.
