This article is about the episode from The Ghost and Molly McGee. For the 2005 film, see Ice Princess.

"Ice Princess" is the first segment of the eleventh episode of the Disney Channel animated series, The Ghost and Molly McGee.

Synopsis[]

When a ghost causes an ice storm in Brighton, only Dad can save the town from eternal winter.

Plot[]

The McGees go shopping during the winter season, only to discover that all of Brighton is in panic mode with the upcoming winter storm. According to Brighton legend, every four years the Ice Princess sends a raging storm that covers the town and (although some people like Patty don't believe the legend yet agree that the storm is real) everyone rushes to protect themselves. The McGees return home with very little; disappointing Scratch who wanted Coconut Yim-Yums. He then tells them that the Ice Princess is real; she was a figure skater named Sonia Davis who failed a maneuver that damaged her reputation, and her spirit has haunted Brighton every four years so that she can perfect it, causing said blizzard in the process. Upon hearing this, Pete appears to heavily empathize with her.

Scratch and the McGees visit a frozen pond and see Sonia who is in the middle of doing her routine. Whenever she is angered, she sends a flurry of frozen icicles everywhere. Molly tries to take it upon herself to be Sonia's partner so that she can prepare for her routine, but it quickly becomes evident that she lacks the ability to do so. Sharon finally pushes Pete to put on his figure skating outfit from his youth. In the past, Pete was "Blades", a teenage figure skater who made it to the top, until he failed a maneuver of his own thanks to his brother and got disqualified, losing his edge and hasn't skated since. Sonia is impressed with Pete, but threatens to coat Brighton in ice forever if he messes up; putting pressure on him.

The day comes as Pete and Sonia skate together. As promised, the two perform a spectacular display of ice skating that impresses everyone. However, as they make it to the final move, Pete's "plantar fasciitis" gives way and they fail the last move. Sonia appears upset, but admits that she had a lot of fun; realizing that she did not need to think about glory or winning a metal. She thanks Pete for opening up her eyes and her spirit finally passes on. The family happily hugs Pete as Scratch asks that he teach him one of his ice skating moves.
