"If I Can't Reach You / Let My Song Teach You" is the fourth episode of the Disney+ streaming television miniseries Agatha All Along and was released on October 2, 2024. It was written by Giovanna Sarquis and directed by Rachel Goldberg.
The coven faces their second trial on the Witches' Road.
Plot[]
With Sharon gone, the coven is forced to summon a replacement Green Witch, who turns out to be Rio Vidal, much to Agatha's annoyance. The coven encounters a house with a 1970s aesthetic that gives Alice grief. Upon entering, they find that it is a recording studio tied to Alice's mother, Lorna Wu, who used to sing the Witches' Roadsong at her concerts in the hopes of opening the door, but it never worked. While they explore, Agatha and Rio try to call a truce; the former will get the power she desires, while Rio will get the bodies of those who fall on the Road. Just then, the Teen accidentally plays a record backwards, that summons a demon that is part of a curse in Alice's family. In order to fight back, the coven has to ply Lorna's version of the ballad Alice can successfully kill the demon. However, Teen gets severely injured when he gets stabbed by a piece of glass amid the chaos. After escaping the house, Jennifer manages to heal him.
Later, Lilia, Alice, and Jen bond with each other. Jennifer reveals she was once a midwife bound by a man who somehow figured out how to steal her powers. Meanwhile, Agatha watches over Teen while he recovers. When he regains consciousness, Teen asks if Agatha cast the Sigil spell on him. She explains that it also works on the witch who casts it so she does not know if she was responsible; however, it can be lifted when it is no longer needed. He then asks what happened to her son, but she ignores the question. She rejoins the coven, who are discussing their past misadventures and battle scars. Rio mentions that she once loved someone. However, she had to do something she did not want to, even though it was her job, and it hurt them. That person became her battle scar, hinting to Agatha. The two later find themselves alone, seemingly letting bygones be bygones. They get somewhat intimate, but as Agatha is about to kiss Rio, she tells her that Teen is not her son.
Just like the title of last week's episode, this week's title is lyrics from "Ballad of the Witches' Road", however unlike the previous three episodes this lyrics comes from Lorna Wu's version of the ballad.
The leaves on the Witches Road are autumnal colors to match the fire trial that await the witches.
Alice's trial is fire based because her mother, Laura Wu, died in a fire.
"Advocamus...sororem. Viridem. Supra" translates to "We summon a green sister above". Additionally, "Supra. Infra. Extra. Esse viridis non est facile" translates to "Within, without, it's not easy being green". This whole dialogue refers back to the Wizard of Oz film.
