"In The Heist" is the twenty-fifth episode of the Disney Channel and Marvel Animation series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
Synopsis[]
Lunella discovers that a stolen Kree artifact is about to cause a cataclysmic storm, but when none of the adults believe her, she must swipe it herself.
Plot[]
The students of I.S. 833 head to the museum with Lunella and the STEM kids having their own tour. They meet Dr. Stern, the curator of the museum who, as his name implies, is stuck up and obnoxious. He shows them the Crystal of Kanwar and explains its history. Despite this, the STEM kids have questions about its origin, but Dr. Stern refuses to back off. Lunella recognizes the carvings as being Kree and calls Mel-Varr who identifies it as the Crystal of Korath. When the sunlight hits it, it can cause massive weather damage to the planet. When warning Dr. Stern fails, Lunella convinces the STEM kids that they need to steal the diamond and seal it away and they happily agree.
Cecelia comes up with a plan, having watched heist movies, comes up with a plan while Jurnee hacks into the security system and Eli uses his video games to cause an annoying distraction. Having successfully lowered the crystal's defenses, Lunella plots to swipe the diamond, but Anand insists he do it because he is the "muscle", only to chicken out at the last minute. Lunella gives him words of encouragement that is enough to have him resume the heist, but Dr. Stern arrives just in time to stop them. A chase ensues with Anand putting the crystal in his backpack, but he bumps into Devil, who was there curating as well, and they are caught by Dr. Stern.
As the STEM kids are put up in the security room, Dr. Stern takes their backpack and calls Coach Hrbek to come get them. Hrbek refuses to believe that the kids did anything bad, but when Dr. Stern checks the backpack, he discovers that it is empty. They check the stand and discover the crystal is still there. It turns out that the kids made a duplicate and that Devil took the real crystal away for safekeeping. Dr. Stern is fired by the guards themselves as the kids celebrate their win. Later, Lunella is having pizza with Mel-Varr where she regales the adventure. As Mel-Varr takes the crystal back to his planet, it becomes apparent that the two are falling in love with each other.
