Interior Chinatown is an American action comedy mystery television series created by showrunner Charles Yu based on his novel of the same name. The series is produced for Hulu by 20th Television.

Synopsis

Willis Wu is a character actor stuck in background roles of a police procedural he works on. One day he accidentally witnesses a crime, and as he investigates, he starts to uncover family secrets and a Chinatown criminal underground while learning how it feels to be in the spotlight.

Production

On October 15, 2020, Variety reported that a television adaptation of Interior Chinatown was in development.

On October 13, 2022, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Jimmy O. Yang was cast in the lead that and that Taika Waititi would direct the pilot episode.

On October 26, 2022, Deadline reported that Ronny Chieng and Chloe Bennet joined the cast as Fatty Choi and Detective Lana Lee.

On January 17, 2023, Deadline reported that Sullivan Jones and Lisa Gilroy joined the cast as Miles Turner and Sarah Green.

On January 19, 2023, Deadline reported that Diana Lin, Archie Kao and Tzi Ma joined the cast as Lily Wu, Wong and Joe Wu.

On February 16, 2023, it was reported that filming had officially begun.

On December 4, 2023, it was announced that the series is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2024.
