Synopsis[]
Vee and her friends are invited to take part in a special mummy tradition.
Plot[]
In the museum, Vampirina, Poppy, and Bridget recap the things they did together in the past, and they're now invited for a Royal Mummy Coronation Ceremony. Vampirina mentions that if they're invited by King Pepi, they have to accept. They then meet Pepi, who mentions that today is his niece Nefi's Coronation Ceremony. The mummy tradition dates back centuries where the current king passes on a special headdress to the next member of the royal family, meaning they're agreeing to take over as the new king or queen when they're older. Pepi mentions he loves Nefi more than the Nile itself, but it is a big responsibility. He offered to host the ceremony in the museum, so mummies everywhere will be arriving. Pepi has to make sure everything goes according to plan and the past is kept alive.
Nefi then arrives, and she and Pepi perform their "wrap-shake". Nefi then greets Vampirina, Poppy, and Bridget, and is really into reading about monster history and current events in Transylvania, which is how she knows them as the Ghoul Girls. Pepi then sees the headdress gone, and Nefi reads that it is said to bring ghoul luck to whoever wears it. Vampirina then sees an envelope, which is a letter from his mummy, who moved the headdress to a hiding spot to keep it from being lost or stolen. They also have to follow a bunch of clues and riddles to find the hiding spot.
Pepi reads the first riddle, which is an object that has four sides but made of three. One thinks of Egypt when one sees it, and Nefi knows it as a pyramid. Vampirina quickly spots the pyramids and Nefi opens it to reveal another riddle, one that says that mummy kings and queens of old have to be shown respect. That means everyone has to avoid stepping on tiles with Mummyglyphic drawings carved into it. Vampirina and Demi help everyone stay away from the tiles and Nefi finds another riddle. Once they solve it, they'll find the next clue. Nefi finds the mighty sphinx, and explains what it is. They must answer the sphinx's riddle to move along.
Pepi and Nefi approach the sphinx confidently, and the sphinx mentions that the answer has a mouth but doesn't speak, is blue but not sad, and is one of the longest of its kind, but with a short name. Nefi knows the answer as the Nile River, and the sphinx reveals the location of the next clue. Pepi can't believe how much Nefi has grown up, and Vampirina agrees that she is special. Nefi then finds a switch to reveal a secret trapdoor. Since it's very tight, Gregoria mentions dancing, and Vampirina decides for them to do the same.
They soon arrive at the secret treasure room. However, Demi sets off a trap which would lock them inside, and Gregoria, Poppy, Bridget, and Demi keep the door open while Vampirina, Pepi, and Nefi find the headdress. They find the last clue and Pepi states that the headdress is hidden in a mummy's favorite spot. Nefi has no clue on what it is, and Pepi knows it is hidden in the mummy's tomb. They then find the headdress in time for the ceremony, but it disintegrates, and Nefi knows that it is old. She wonders what needs to be done since there is no headdress. Vampirina mentions that something new could be the answer, and has an idea.
Vampirina then decides for everyone to make a new headdress instead of passing down the old one, as it can be the mummies' new tradition. She mentions that her family had to start a lot of new traditions when they moved to Pennsylvania, and they brought them closer together. Also, Nefi doesn't need ghoul luck, as she's smart, well-read, and knows all about mummy history. Nefi decides to be herself, and later, the new headdress is complete with representations of the Nile, the sphinx, and the mummy ancestors. Vampirina reassures that new traditions can be a scream, and Poppy states that it was fun to figure out the riddles. Pepi tells Nefi that the treasure hunt showed him how smart and capable she's become, and she'll be a great Mummy Queen one day. The ceremony then begins, and Nefi has the headdress placed on her head. Vampirina concludes that the mummy future is bootiful and bright.
