"It's Crazy to Be Sane" is a deleted song from Alice in Wonderland. Featured in the 1939 treatment of the film, it was to be sung by The Mad Hatter, The March Hare, and The Dormouse during the Mad Tea Party sequence.
Lyrics[]
Mad Hatter: Oh, it's crazy to be sane
Never ever use your brain
Or soon you'll find your mind behaving
Like a hurricane!
March Hare: It's much smarter to be dumb
If there's trouble, let it come
When you fuss and fret, who do you get?
The sanitarium!
Mad Hatter: You are smart
If you're dull
When the world's so full of brains
It makes you individual!
March Hare: Oh, you never have a pain
If you're balmy in the brain!
Mad Hatter: What you don't know can't hurt you
So it's crazy to be sane!
Dormouse: Twinkle, twinkle, wittle bat!
How I wonder what you're at!
Up above the world you fwy
Wike a tea tway in the sky!
Twinkle, twinkle, twinkle, twinkle...
