Ivy is a supporting character in the Disney/Pixar animated series, Cars on the Road. She is a monster truck who loves to perform for an adoring audience.
Background[]
Personality[]
Ivy is a very defensive vehicle. She was proud and happy to perform for an audience, but a supposed accident forced her to live like a hermit in the woods and stay away from everyone. Despite this, she secretly loved to perform again and with the help of Lightning McQueen and Mater, she is able to overcome her insecurities and step out into the world again. She becomes very open and fun-loving, showing an adventurous side that matches that with her friends. She is also very opportunistic about wanting to take the stage, but is not vain or conceited about it. She is a car filled with passion for what she loves best.
Physical appearance[]
Ivy is a monster truck and thus possesses giant tumbler wheels and has five headlights on her head. Her usual design and appearance is an acrylic, sparkling aquamarine blue with an orange fire design on her sides. While living in the woods, she looked greyish-brown and was covered in green moss. When she joined the film industry, she was painted entirely yellow and had a giant rubber yellow and purple brain on her head.
Role in the series[]
In "The Legend", Ivy chases Lightning McQueen all across the woods and as he crashes into a tree while attempting to escape, he finds himself in a shack where he got trapped, mistaking her for a monster. Ivy introduces herself to McQueen and explains that she used to be a monster truck, recapping her moment where she is pressured to smash other cars during a monster truck event. After the flashback, Ivy recaps that she misses the performance, convincing McQueen that she doesn't need to be anything for anybody. McQueen asks Ivy to cut the rope to help him escape which Ivy tells him about how he ended up in this situation. However, Mater barges in and mistakes her for a Bigfoot only for Mater to end up in the same situation as McQueen. Ivy agrees to free Mater and McQueen respectively if they manage to keep the enemies from scaring her which they manage to clean up the mess in the mountain. Seeing Mater wearing pipes all over him, this gives Ivy an idea of giving their rude friends a scary story, which Lightning plans to follow Ivy's plan to scare away the campers who are seeking for Bigfoot.
As the campers try to seek the cryptid they are talking about, the three campers end up getting trapped on ropes like what McQueen and Mater did during their encounter with Ivy. Ivy, Mater, and McQueen disguise themselves as aliens to scare away the campers just as the three manage to deal with them in teamwork, scaring away the campers away from the Campground. With the campers escaped, Ivy feels satisfied that this plan was successful. The next day, McQueen tells Ivy that she finally got her mountain back, which Ivy thanks McQueen and Mater for helping her just as she tells them that it was fun to put on a performance like this. Just before McQueen and Mater leave, Ivy asks the two where they are heading, she then makes friends with the two. Ivy, McQueen, and Mater continue driving on the highway.
In "Show Time", Ivy explains to Mater and McQueen that she was hiding out in the woods for too long, explaining that she must clean herself up through car wash. Ivy then decides to clean herself up while Mater follows her into the car wash. Soon as Ivy exits, she finds herself all cleaned up, explaining that she is ready to roll, followed by Mater who exits along. That evening, Ivy, McQueen, and Mater continue driving along the road exploring the landscape all around them. Just as they continue driving on the road, they suddenly see a circus tent from a distance. Ivy then suddenly approaches the area where the circus is at as the area where McQueen and Mater follow Ivy into is called "Circus Velocitas" which the two arrive at the entrance of the circus. Soon as McQueen arrives there, he asks Mater to know where Ivy is at which Ivy tells the two that they have found perfect seats for them to enjoy their moments in watching Circus Velocitas which the three started watching the circus performance. As the show ends, Ivy and Mater cheer for the performers' hard work. However, before McQueen can leave, the owners of the Circus Velocitas tell him that their show needs a volunteer performer to participate in the show; the clowns then pick Ivy whom they think she is a volunteer performer who would participate during a circus performance.
During performance, Ivy participates in a monster truck act reflecting her flashback from her previous participation, putting her determination and confidence in her mind and lands next to one of the clowns without anyone of them being crushed just as the performers feel satisfied of her volunteer participation at the circus while the forklift strongman lifts her which McQueen and Mater are satisfied that they enjoyed the show. Ivy then approaches McQueen telling him that she is accepted to join the circus troupe to stay there permanently. After the show ended, Ivy, the circus owners, and the rest of the performers bid a farewell to McQueen and Mater, happy that they enjoyed the show just as they continue driving along the road as they leave the circus. Meanwhile, the audience watches the circus with Ivy as their new performer at the circus just as the audience cheers for her performance.
