Jürgen Ziegenkäse and Berthold Hufschmerz are minor characters who appear in the 2025 Disney animated feature film Zootopia 2.
Background[]
Physical appearances[]
Jürgen and Berthold are two anthropomorphic pale gray-furred slender German-accented goats with an identical appearance. As a characteristic of goats in real life, they are shown to have beards located below their chin and small round pupils on their eyes slightly resembling that of realistic goats. They are shown to wear green lederhosen around their bodies decorated with flowers and quadrupedal goat symbols on them. They also both wear a green Tyrolean hat (whose horns pierce through) and white neckties patterned with red and green stripes.
Trivia[]
- Jürgen's last name, "Ziegenkäse", is German for "goat cheese". If transliterated, it would literally translate "Jürgen Goatcheese".
- Berthold's last name, "Hufschmerz" is a combination of "Huf" (German for "hoof", which ungulates like goats typically have) and "Schmerz" meaning (German word for "ache"). If Berthold's last name was transliterated, it would literally translate as "Berthold Hoofache".
- Lederhosen are traditional clothing in Alpine regions such as Southern Germany and Austria, while the two characters seem to belong to the Saanen breed, which originates in Switzerland.
- Both characters' voice actors are the same co-directors Byron Howard and Jared Bush, who both previously voiced Bucky and Pronk Oryx-Antlerson. This is also Jared Bush's second voice role in the franchise of Zootopia and overall, among his Disney career.
