Jeffrey Jacob "J.J." Abrams is an American film and television producer, director, screenwriter, actor, and composer. He is best known for creating the television series Alias and Lost for ABC, and co-created the TV series Felicity with Matt Reeves, also for ABC. He has also directed the Paramount Pictures films Mission: Impossible III (2006), Super 8 (2011), and the 2009 Star Trek reboot and its sequels Star Trek Into Darkness (2014) and Star Trek Beyond (2016). Additionally, he wrote the films Armageddon (1998), Regarding Henry (1991), and Forever Young (1992).

For Disney, he directed Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.[1] He co-wrote the latter with Chris Terrio and produced Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which Rian Johnson directed. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the 1998 Touchstone Pictures film Armageddon.
