- “Jacen Syndulla. Born to fly, just like his mother. And, well, we all know what his father was like.”
- ―Sabine Wren[src]
Jacen Syndulla is a character who first appeared in the final episode of Star Wars Rebels and in the Disney+ series Ahsoka. He is the son of Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus.
Background[]
Jacen was born to Hera Syndulla on the planet Lothal. His father was Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus, who was killed in combat, while saving Hera and their crew shortly before Lothal's liberation. He grew up with the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. By the time the Empire perished to ruins, young Jacen became a member of his mother's crew aboard the Ghost, honoring him the callsign, Spectre Seven. Although Jacen grew up never knowing his father, he was nonetheless surrounded by love from the people he considered family. He even has a close relationship with the droid Chopper.
At a young age, Jacen showed aptitude as a pilot and also wished to become a Jedi, like his father before him.
Physical appearance[]
Jacen Syndulla is a male hybrid, born to a human father and a Twi'lek mother. He had mostly human features, though his green hair was similar to his mother's green skin, and the tips of his ears and his eyelashes are also green. He also has blue eyes and tan skin.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- The Force: Like his father, Jacen has a strong connection to the Force.
- Force Sense: At a young age, Jacen can sense the presence of other Force-users, even if they are in-between realms. He was able to sense Ahsoka's presence in the World Between Worlds and also hear her lightsaber duel fighting.
Trivia[]
- Jacen's first name was inspired by Jacen Solo, the son of Leia Organa Solo and Han Solo in the Star Wars Legends continuity.
- Dave Filoni deliberately chose the name Jacen as a way of honoring the character of Jacen Solo and his importance in the stories of Star Wars Legends.
- At Dragon Con 2018, when asked by StarWars.com writer Bria LaVorgna about when Jacen was conceived, Rebels writer Henry Gilroy stated that Jacen may have been conceived during the episode "Kindred", describing the scene where Hera finds Kanan meditating out in the fields only for the scene to be cut short with a time cut. However, this has not been stated in any canon source.
