Jimmy, better known as James, is a character in the Disney Parks attraction Carousel of Progress.
Background[]
Development History[]
The Carousel of Progress (or Progressland as it was originally called) was created for a sponsorship from General Electric to be featured in the 1964 New York World's Fair where James was featured. The Carousel of Progress would later be integrated in Tomorrowland at Disneyland in the Carousel Theatre for the New Tomorrowland integrations of 1967. In 1975, it was moved to Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World at the behest of ride sponsors, General Electric. Over the years as new scripts, scenes and integrations have been implemented into it, James has changed voice actors multiple times.
Appearances[]
Carousel of Progress[]
James appears in every scene throughout the Carousel of Progress attraction often talking to his father, John. Throughout the show he interacts with his family in the different settings centered around acts living in different eras of America and highlighting the progress in technology which came with each one. Most of the times, he is referred to as his full name "Jimmy" rather than "James". In the final act in the lastest incarnation of the show, a teenage version of Jimmy discusses with his family about the virtual reality video game he is playing during Christmas which he was able to finish the game he recently got for Christmas.
