James is a character in the 2025 Disney/Pixar animated series, Win or Lose. He is Kai's father who pressures her to be a success.

James is the typical "sports dad", obsessed with his daughter being a sports star and constantly pressuring her to perfection despite her already being at the top of her game. It's not that James sees Kai as a tool for his own means, he's simply overzealous on what he thinks are her best interests.

Trivia[]
- Since Kai's mother is never seen and James is thus single, it's implied that he could either be divorced or widowed. Given James' competitive personality, it's most likely the former. That being said, if he had these traits when he married and soon divorced, his ex-wife would have gained custody over Kai. Therefore, Kai's mother passing away is still a possibility.
- It's unknown if James was born in Peaks Valley but moved away years ago since his mother resides there.
- James stated in passing that he was once a successful athlete when he was Kai's age. This could be the reason why he wants his daughter to be a success.
- It’s unknown why he didn’t show up for the parents-teachers meeting with Frank Brown. However, it is most likely because Frank had already left to try and reconcile with Monica Park before James could have the chance to arrive.
