James Howard Woods is an American actor and producer, who is best known for playing Sebastian Stark, the lead character of the TV series Shark. He also voiced Falcon in Stuart Little 2 and Reggie Belafonte in the 2007 Sony Pictures animated film, Surf's Up.
For Disney, Woods voiced Hades in the 1997 Disney animated feature film, Hercules and reprised the role in his future appearances. He also voiced Dr. Phillium Benedict in Recess: School's Out and Gloomius Maximus in Rolie Polie Olie: The Great Defender of Fun. Additionally, he played Bob Haldeman in the 1995 Hollywood Pictures biographical drama Nixon, a ringside fan in Play to The Bone and Jack Russell in Straight Talk.
- Woods has said in some interviews that he enjoyed voicing Hades so much, that he will always be willing to voice him in any future appearances, regardless of the pay. So far, he has done so in Hercules: The Animated Series, Hades Challenge, Fantasmic!, House of Mouse, the Kingdom Hearts series, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, Disney's Not So Spooky Spectacular, and World of Color: Villainous.
- However, the only time Woods did not voice Hades was his singing voice, which was done by Rob Paulsen, in the song It's Our House Now!. The reason for this is unknown.
- He also did not voice the version of Hades seen in the DuckTales episode "New Gods on the Block!", who was instead voiced by Chris Diamantopoulos.
