Jan Gulbransson is a German comic author and artist and the grandson of the painter Olaf Gulbransson (1873-1958).

From 1969 to 1971 he attended the Art Academy Munich. In 1968, he began to design dolls for children's programs such as "Kunterbunt", "Das feuerrote Spielmobil" oder "Die Rappelkiste". In the 70s he worked for the T.C. Animation Studio. From 1977 to 1979 he published his children's comic "Berti's Adventure".

From 1981 to 2001 Gulbransson drew Duck comics for the Sanoma publishing house (formerly: Oberon) and since 2012 he draws for Egmont. Since 1989, he has often been assisted by Rob Klein writing scripts for Disney comics.

Between 1995 and 2013 Gulbransson designed together with Gabriel Nemeth the series "Willi Wurm und seine Freunde" for the children's magazine Medizini.
