Jerome Bernard "Jerry" Orbach was an American actor, voice actor, and singer, who was best known for his role as Detective Lennie Briscoe in the original Law & Order TV series, as well as for his performances in various Broadway musicals, such as Chicago, 42nd Street, and Promises, Promises. He was also known for his supporting film roles, notably as "Baby's" (Jennifer Grey's character) father Dr. Jake Houseman in Dirty Dancing, as the gangster Jack Rosenthal in Woody Allen's Crimes and Misdemeanors, and as the NYPD detective Gus Levy in Prince of the City (which his Law & Order character was based on).

For Disney, he voiced Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast (1991) and most related appearances up until his death. He also voiced Sa'Luk in Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996) and Pierre in The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management). In addition, he played Milo Jacoby in Straight Talk.
