Jessica Michelle Chastain is an American actress and film producer, who is best known for her portrayals of women in films with feminist themes. Her accolades include a Golden Globe Award and two Academy Award nominations. She received critical acclaim for her role as Maya in the 2012 war thriller film, Zero Dark Thirty, which earned her the Broadcast Film Critics Association for Best Actress and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, as well as an Academy Award for Best Actress nomination. She also voiced Gia in Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. Additionally, she portrayed the older Beverly Marsh in It: Chapter Two (2019).
For Disney, Chastain played Celia Foote in the 2011 DreamWorks/Touchstone Pictures film adaptation of The Help, which earned her a Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination, and posed as Merida in the Disney Dream Portrait Series. She also played Vuk in Fox's Dark Phoenix and Tammy Faye Bakker in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (which she also produced).
- Chastain was originally cast in the role of Maya Hansen in Iron Man 3, but at the end, she passed the role to Rebecca Hall due to scheduling conflicts.
