Jesusita en Chihuahua is an instrumental score written by Quirino Mendoza y Cortés, which debuted on Christmas Day 1916 in Puebla, Mexico. It is also known in English as "J.C. Polka" for short or as "The Cactus Polka".
In Disney media, it was featured in the 1944 Disney film, The Three Caballeros.
Background[]
The score is heard during the Donald's Surreal Reverie segment where Donald Duck encounters Carmen Molina again wearing a charro outfit dancing with some animated cacti instead of flowers as the aforementioned polka plays in the background. When Donald tries to get Carmen Molina's attention, she suddenly transforms into a cactus and the scene cuts to the finale.
Trivia[]
- While the song itself is mostly instrumental, vocals are heard towards the end of the song.
- The song can also be heard in the opening of the seasonal Disney California Adventure attraction, A Musical Celebration of Coco.
