"Jewels the Winner" is the first segment of the twenty-first episode of Ariel. It premiered on March 7, 2025 alongside "Abuelita's Shawl".
Plot[]
Ariel and her friends are waiting for the arrival of Jewels. Ariel mentions the fun she'll have with her while Flounder prepared the snacks. Jewels then arrives with Alanna and Ayanna and is delighted to see Ariel and her friends again. While Alanna and Ayanna leave, Ariel decides for her and Jewels to play hide and seek at the shipwreck and then cricket at Atlantica Park. Jewels likes it, and vows to win all of them. Ariel tells her that they're playing to have fun.
At the shipwreck, Jewels is ready to play hide and seek, and Ariel tells her that playtime is about having fun. While everyone else hides, Ariel searches for them. She then finds Jewels, who was laughing. Jewels hides in other places, only for Ariel to spot her both times. Flounder shows up, and because Jewels found him, she thinks she won. Jewels finds everyone else, and declares herself the winner of hide and seek. Lucia knows it isn't as fun as she thought it would be.
Up next is cricket at Atlantica Park. Ariel tells Jewels how great the game will be. At the game, Ariel tells Jewels to focus on having fun. Jewels misses the first shot and swims away with the ball while thinking she's winning. Lucia tells Jewels that's not how cricket is played, and Fernie and Lucia know that all Jewels cares about is winning. Ariel decides for them to do something with Jewels where they can't win or lose, like getting a juice from Ravi's juice stand. Jewels accepts.
After they drink juice, Jewels declares herself to win at it, although it isn't a game. Jewels blows bubbles while drinking juice, but Ariel tells her it isn't good manners and she's making a mess. However, Jewels blows more bubbles, and Lucia, Fernie, and Flounder decide to take their juices to the Crystal Cavern.
It is at that point where Jewels learns the lesson about making playtime all about winning not being fun for everyone else. Ariel recaps the games of hide and seek and cricket, and Jewels finally understands that playtime is about having fun with her friends. Ariel accepts Jewels' apology, and they decide to play something else. First, they head to the Crystal Cavern, where Jewels apologizes to the others for her behavior. Jewels then decides to play hide and seek with the others, and Flounder eventually finds everyone. The game then continues with Jewels' turn to find everyone.
