"Jinx!" is the first segment of the thirty-first episode of the Disney Channel animated series The Ghost and Molly McGee.

Synopsis[]

When Jinx jinxes Scratch, he and Molly must find a way to undo it.

Plot[]

Scratch is getting a lot of positive attention in the Underworld from everyone except Jinx who only cares about the "One True Chairman" whom she is still devoted to. She feigns devotion to Scratch by treating him to a churro before jinxing him, that is saying something at the same time as him. Scratch is at first confused by this until he realizes that he cannot eat anything and soon begins to suffer from bad luck. Jinx and the Sobgoblins malicious torture Scratch through a variety of traps before revealing that in order to be unjinxed, he must get her to say his name three times. Scratch is horrified by this notion, but Molly insists that they will find a way to get her to unjinx him.

The first step is having Scratch pretend that he is collecting his things to exit his job as chairman. As Jinx begins to look through his stuff, she finds his "scratch"-n-sniff stickers and utters their name, causing the first unjinx to occur. The second time, Scratch leaves his robes out in the open and covers them with itching powder. Jinx cannot resist trying it on and ends up getting itchy, forcing her to get a backscratcher to "scratch" her back, saying his name for the second time. During all of this, Jinx makes it known her goal to eventually replace Scratch and become the new chairman, with her intent to completely dominate the underworld.

Finally, Geoff and Jeff hold a fake gameshow and have Jinx come up to play with the prize being a Chairman lunchbox. Just as Jinx is about to say the word "scratch", she immediately catches on to the trick when she sees Scratch and stops herself at the last minute, capturing Scratch and Molly in an effort to gloat. Scratch uses this to his advantage and manages to jinx her back, causing her to suffer from bad luck. He offers a truce to unjinx her if she unjinxes him, though in a display of power, Scratch once again tricks her at the last minute to teach her a lesson. Despite ultimately unjinxing her, Jinx still holds a grudge, which he dismisses despite the ominousness. As a joke, Molly jinxes Scratch, but regrets it when he gets injured and unjinxes him.

Trivia[]

According to the photographs Jinx took, the original Ghost Chairman likes ice cream and sunglasses, but doesn't like being taken in photographs.
Jinx claims that she hates strawberries because of the seeds on the outside of them. This is a common misconception as the "seeds" are actually achenes and are considered a separate fruit with their own seeds inside of them.
A lamp resembling Luxo, Jr. is seen among a pile of items that Scratch collects when he pretends to leave his job as chairman.
