Joanna Virginia Cassidy is an American film and television actress, who, for Disney, portrayed Dolores in the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Melina Cominis in Desperate Housewives, and Ruby in the ABC Studios TV show Perception.
Cassidy was born in Haddonfield, New Jersey and attended Haddonfield Memorial High School, and has described herself as being "a rowdy kid" there. She is known for her infectious, howling laugh which can be heard in the film The Laughing Policeman and her appearances in The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
She is best known for her role as the replicant Zhora in Ridley Scott's 1982 dystopian science fiction action film Blade Runner. Her other films include Under Fire, The Fourth Protocol, The Package, Where the Heart Is, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, Vampire in Brooklyn, The Grudge 2, and Ghosts of Mars.
From 2001 to 2005, Cassidy played Margaret Chenowith in the HBO drama series Six Feet Under, and from 2011 to 2013, she played Joan Hunt in the ABC series Body of Proof. Her other television credits include Mission: Impossible, Buffalo Bill, Taxi, Trapper John, M.D., Dallas, Fantasy Island, Falcon's Crest, Melrose Place, Superman: The Animated Series, L.A. Law, Boston Legal, Odd Mom Out, NCIS: New Orleans, and Call Me Fritz.
She has won a Golden Globe Award, was nominated for three Emmy Awards and also was nominated for a Saturn Award and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
