Alicia Christian "Jodie" Foster is an American actress, film director, and producer. She is best known for her role as Clarice Starling in the 1991 horror-thriller Silence of the Lambs. She also played Eleanor Arroway in the 1997 thriller Contact Alexandra Rover in the 2008 adventure comedy film Nim's Island She is also the founder of the production company Egg Pictures.

For Disney, she played Samantha in the 1972 Disney family adventure drama film Napoleon and Samantha, Martha McIver in the 1973 Disney western film One Little Indian, Annabel Andrews in the 1976 Disney comedy film Freaky Friday, and Casey Brown in the 1977 Disney family film Candleshoe. She also played Kyle Pratt in the 2005 Touchstone Pictures film Flightplan.
