John Ross Bowie is an American actor, voice actor, and comedian, who is best known for his role of playing Barry Kripke. He also plays Jimmy DiMeo in Speechless. In addition, he has appeared in commercials for Progressive and appeared in the film What the Bleep Do We Know!?, opposite Marlee Matlin.
Before his minor acting career, Bowie was in a rock band called Egghead along with Mike Faloon and Michael M.B. Galvin.
For Disney, he portrayed Rory in The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, Walter in Good Luck Charlie, and Simon in Wizards of Waverly Place. He also voices Sven in Sofia the First, Dr. Mel Myers in Big Hero 6: The Series, and Loab in Milo Murphy's Law. Additionally, he appeared in Retired at 35, House of Lies, Childrens Hospital, Reno 911!, A.U.S.A., Speechless, The Rookie, and Upright Citizens Brigade.
Personal life[]
Bowie is married to comedian Jamie Denbo, and together they have two children: a son and a daughter.
He is a very close friend of co-star Kevin Sussman, who plays Stuart Bloom in The Big Bang Theory. They met on the set of Ugly Betty, where Sussman played the character of Walter, and Bowie's wife knew one of the actresses. Together they have written three TV pilots together, one of which (Dark Minions) was picked up by Amazon in 2013. Both provided voices for the main characters in the pilot.
Bowie is also close friends with The Big Bang Theory cast.
