John Winfield Stephenson was an American actor and voice actor. His Disney roles included Major Synapse in Darkwing Duck, General Bucky Tumult, Professor Crackpotkin, Space Rider Radio Announcer, Uncle Bucky, and additional voices in TaleSpin, Squeaks in The Fox and the Hound, and a lawyer from the second team in Herbie Rides Again.
He was best known for his role as Mr. Slate in Hanna-Barbara's series The Flintstones and its various movies, spinoffs, and television specials. His film credits included Spartacus, Charlotte's Web (1973), The Hobbit, and The Return of the King. He also lent his voice to other Hanna-Barbara media, such as Wacky Races, Yogi Bear, Top Cat, The Jetsons, and Scooby-Doo.
