Jonathan Michael "Jon" Avnet is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is known for founding (alongside Jordan Kerner) Avnet-Kerner Productions before the company split in 2002.
He has directed several films, such as Fried Green Tomatoes, The War, Red Corner, and Righteous Kill. He also served as an executive producer for films, like Land of the Blind and Black Swan.
For Disney, he produced The Mighty Ducks film series, the 1997 comedy film George of the Jungle, and executive produced the 1999 comedy film Inspector Gadget. He also directed the 1996 Touchstone Pictures drama film Up Close and Personal.
