"Journey to the Center of the Chibiverse" is the second segment of the ninth episode of the Disney Channel series Chibiverse.
Synopsis[]
When Remy Remington gets trapped underground after a Chibiquake, Vasquez teams up with Star Butterfly and Phineas and Ferb to save Remy from whatever lurks on the planet!
Summary[]
During Pogo Stick Day, a holiday where all Chibis jump on pogo sticks together, Star Butterfly convinces everybody in the Chibiverse to jump all at the exact same time, but when they land, they cause a Chibiquake, which causes a crack in the ground Star created to split wide open where Remy Remmington falls into it. Vazquez prepares to lower himself into the crevasse to save Remy, until Darkwing Duck arrives and begins pogoing next to it, causing it to close. Vasquez and Star are joined by Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher who make a plan to travel to the center of the Chibiverse to find Remy using a drill they built. Meanwhile, Remy survives the fall but finds himself at the center of the Chibiverse, where he is pinned to the ground by a fallen stalactite and confronted by several unknown beings.
While drilling through the ground, the group is stopped by a large boulder, Vasquez believes that it is best for him to destroy the boulder, but Star convinces him to treat it with kindness as they discover that the boulder is a living being named Pebble who is stuck in place, so Star uses a spell to summon a macho ant swarm to carry it out of the way allowing them to continue, believing that if you show kindness in a super cute way, super cute kindness may be returned.
Meanwhile, a terrified Remy discovers that the unknown beings surrounding him are actually other Chibis he's never met before consisting of Maggie Pesky, Billy Dilley, Fat Cat, Future-Worm, Pepper Ann Pearson, Clamantha, Kick Buttowski, Vince LaSalle, Brandy Harrington, Mr. Whiskers, Penn Zero, Gruffi Gummi, Brooklyn, Lula, and Bonkers D. Bobcat. They free him, and, through song, the Chibis explain that after the Chibiverse was created, they were exploring underground caves when Maggie accidentally caused a cave-in by slipping on a banana peel. This mishap led them to the center of the Chibiverse, which they named "The Underverse". With no way out, the Chibis, now referred to as the "UnderChibis", had to find ways to survive as they faced starvation and were eventually forgotten.
Remy introduces himself and explains his situation to the UnderChibis, assuring them that his friends are on their way to rescue him and would also be willing to help rescue them. Just then, the drill falls from the ceiling, allowing Remy to reunite with Vasquez. Phineas asks how the UnderChibis ended up in the Underverse, but they refuse to repeat their musical number. Instead, Billy Dilley sings the last line, but his high-pitched voice causes the Underverse to collapse as lava begins to fill the cave. In a rush, all the Chibis pile into the drill and take off just as Pebble bursts in and stops the flow of lava, returning the favor and giving them time to escape.
Back on the surface, Remy reassures everyone that he is alive while the UnderChibis readjust to life above ground. Gary recaps the events of the episode as the missing Chibis are welcomed into the Chibiverse. However, his lack of understanding regarding what Bonkers is, along with the other Chibis, enrages Bonkers, who explains that he is a bobcat.

Trivia[]
- The Underverse primarily consists of Chibis from cartoons that debuted or were featured on ABC (in the case of Pepper Ann Pearson, because her show, Pepper Ann, did air on ABC originally), or the Disney Channel's former sister channel, Toon Disney, and Disney XD.
- This episode marks the return of Vince LaSalle in anything Disney-related, after his appearance in the Lilo & Stitch: The Series crossover episode, though he does not have a solo speaking role. He was chosen out of all of the members of recess gang to be chibified because of the show's popularity, it was a fan favorite.
- Pepper Ann and Anne Boonchuy can be seen talking to each other towards the end, which may be reference to the fact that Pepper Ann's design was a partial inspiration for the design of Anne Boonchuy and/or Pepper Ann's cameo in the Amphibia episode "All In".
- Likewise, King and Clamantha can be seen talking to each other as a reference to the fact that they are both voiced by Alex Hirsch.
- Clamantha and Brooklyn being trapped in the Underverse is strange considering other characters from their respective series appeared in earlier episodes.
- However, it is explained that characters enter the Underverse simply by falling underground, so it's possible they fell in after said episodes took place.
- While digging to the Underverse, skeletons of Shnookums and Meat can be seen alongside items from Future-Worm!, a Mighty Ducks mask, a Fleemco phone, Quackerjack's doll Mr. Banana Brain, Figment's sweater, and Dreamfinder's hat.
- Although Darkwing Duck's outfit is from the reboot (in which he is voiced by Chris Diamantopoulos), his original voice actor, Jim Cummings, reprised the role here.
- The end credits music for the standalone version of this episode is "Welcome to the Underverse" instead of the theme song.
- In the credits for the standalone release on March 1, 2025, Jim Cummings was only credited for his voice role as Bonkers and not including Fat Cat and Darkwing Duck.
