Keke Palmer (born Lauren Keyana Palmer; August 26, 1993) is an American actress, singer-songwriter, dancer, fashion designer, voice actress, and activist who was best known for her role as the titular protagonist on the Nickelodeon sitcom True Jackson, VP from 2009 to 2011.

Biography

Keke Palmer was born on August 26, 1993 in Harvey, Illinois as Lauren Keyana Palmer. She began singing in her church's choir at the age of five, and auditioned for a stage production of The Lion King at the age of nine. Her family moved to Los Angeles in 2004 so Palmer could pursue a screen career. Her first acting gig was as the niece of Queen Latifah's character in the 2004 film Barbershop 2: Back in Business. Between 2004 and 2006, she appeared in episodes of several TV series. She played a supporting role in the film Madea's Family Reunion and starred in Akeelah and the Bee. She later stared in the DCOM Jump In! as Mary Thomas along with Corbin Bleu.

Music

Keke sang two songs for her movie Jump In! one called It's My Turn Now the other called Jumpin. She also can be heard on DisneyMania 5 singing Reflection from Mulan. She has signed a record deal with Atlantic Records, and is currently working on her debut music album.
