"Kicks" is a song featured in the 2022 Disney+ original film Sneakerella.
Background[]
The song plays at the beginning of the film when El exits his room and dances around the streets of New York, breakdancing with a group of pedestrians on the streets, only to find out it was a dream where El finds himself at the Laces shoe store, where his stepfather Trey told him to get to work. The song later plays during the end credits.
In Broken Karaoke, a version with alternate lyrics titled "Sidekicks" was performed by Remy Remington and Polly Plantar respectively only to be interrupted by Cricket Green and Hop Pop respectively.
Lyrics[]
Ain't nothin' fresher than my—
Ain't nothin' fresher than my—
Ain't nothin' fresher than my—
Limited release, had to pull up early
Number thirty-three on the back of my jersey
I'm an all-star, from low to high tops
The line's for five blocks, can't wait 'til they drop my
Kicks, kicks, kicks
Ain't nothin' fresher, no one's steppin' on my
Kicks, kicks, kicks
They be like, "What are those? Those soles are
Sick, sick, sick"
I be like, "'Sure you right", paparazzi takin' pics
They want the kicks, they want the drip
They want the heat and they know who's lit
Wе stroll the streets laced up, don't trip
Don't trip
I like custom Nikеs (Woo)
Gucci suit me nicely
Prada make 'em pricey
No one wears 'em like me
My soles got soul, I've been this gold since I was three years old
I'm going for my goals, soaring high to the stars
It's more than what you wear, represent who you are
Just when you think I'm high enough, high enough
I'm 'bout to take it higher up, higher up
Leaving gravity, I'm fired up, fired up
It's a King6 release, bruh
Ain't nothin' fresher than my
Kicks, kicks, kicks
Ain't nothin' fresher, no one's steppin' on my
Kicks, kicks, kicks
They be like, "What are those? Those soles are
Sick, sick, sick"
I be like, 'Sure you right", paparazzi takin'
Pics, pics, snip-snip
It's hard to explain the game and what it means
From the sketch on the page to the stitch on the seams
From the OGs to Hyperstrike color schemes
Don't sleep on me, homie, I design in my dreams
'Cause everything's fine in my dreams
I can fly in my dreams, sky high in my dreams
But I fall down to Earth when the alarm clock rings
Back to reality, I'm only seventeen-
Man!
[Instrumental]
I should be makin' Nike, I should be makin' Reebok
You should be checkin' Hypebeast to cop my new Adidas
I should be hitting new heights, I'm coming for the kingdom
Deadstock, just watch me change the world with my kicks
I glide, I slide, I fly with my kicks
[Pause]
You can tell a lot about me by the way I wear my
Kicks, kicks, kicks
Ain't nothin' fresher, no one's stepping on my
Kicks, kicks, kicks
They be like, "What are those? Those soles are
Sick, sick, sick"
I be like, 'Sure you right", paparazzi takin'
Pics, pics, pics
Ain't nothin' fresher than my kicks!
Remy: What up, all my peeps? It's your best friend, Remy
Here with all these folks, you've seen on our tele
We may not be the same stars and heroes, but time to expose it
Everyone knows
Sidekicks, kicks, kicks
Are the secret sauce you need inside the
Mix, mix, mix
If you're like, how's the lead so cool and
Slick, slick, slick?
Polly: It's because they got back up from sidekicks!
(Remy: Go, Polly!)
We bring the jokes, we know how to slay
Our B storylines help improve on the A
When the heroes fall down, we'll be right there
'Cause we care
Remy: Anne, Luz, and Molly (Polly: Ugh...)
Meet Libby, King, and Polly (Polly: Sup!)
Star would be dead (Polly: What?)
Without Marco and Pony Head
Sidekicks!
Polly: When things go bad, you'll be so glad
You got your boy who's bad
And don't forget - we got a lot of cuties
Like Rufus and Pascal and sidekick Hooty!
And someday, you'll say, "Whoa-oh, whoa-oh, whoa-oh!"
That sidekick needs a spin-off show
A spin-off show!
And we'll be flattered but say, "No, no, no,"
Because we love to play out favorite part, bro!
That's why we love to be
Sidekicks, kicks, kicks
Remy: Scale of one to five, well deserve a
Six, six, six
Polly: If you're like, how's the lead so cool and (Remy: I'm-)
Sick, sick, sick (Remy: Tell 'em!)
(interrupts)
Cricket: It's because we're just naturally cool and-
Remy: Cricket, what are you doing here? This is not your song.
Cricket: Aw, come on, Remy! Can I just sing one line?
Remy: No, you're not a sidekick, Cricket! Get out of here!
Cricket: Sorry, my bad! I'm sorry, sidekicks. All right, bye...
You sure you don't want me to stay?
Remy: No! We'll hang out later!
Cricket: Okay, okay! Yeesh...
Remy/Polly: It's because they appreciate
Sidekicks, kicks-
(interrupts again)
Hop Pop: Kicks!

Trivia[]
- The song was also released as a single album by Walt Disney Records on April 29, 2022 on digital platforms, which was used to promote the film's release on Disney+.
- When the song was included in Broken Karaoke, the characters beside Remy and Polly (in her tadpole form) seen during "Sidekicks" include:
- Perry the Platypus and Isabella from Phineas and Ferb
- Geoff and Libby from The Ghost and Molly McGee
- King and Hooty from The Owl House
- Lena, Launchpad McQuack, and Donald Duck from DuckTales (2017)
- Pascal from Tangled: The Series
- Soos Ramirez from Gravity Falls
- Lexington from Gargoyles (marking his first appearance in animation since the show ended in 1997)
- Rufus from Kim Possible
- Marco Diaz and Pony Head from Star vs. the Forces of Evil
- Andromeda from Big City Greens
- Other characters that appear in this song include Hop Pop (dressed as Sprig), Anne, Luz, Molly, Star Butterfly, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Cricket, and Goofy in his Goof Troop outfit from the DuckTales episode "Quack Pack!"
- At the end of the song, Hop Pop asks Goofy if he knows him from somewhere, alluding to the fact that they are both voiced by Bill Farmer.
- This effectively cements the shorts as non-canon to their shows, as Pascal is shown among the group even though it would be unlikely for him to survive into the modern age, humans were established as not existing in the DuckTales universe, Polly is shown interacting with humans outside of Anne, Sasha, and Marcy while still using her bucket, even though in Amphibia she didn't travel to the human world and interacted with other humans until shortly after she grew her legs in "True Colors". Also, Lexington appears alongside Donald Duck, Goofy, and Launchpad in their 2017 DuckTales designs (as well as Lena, who is a character original to the reboot), even though Donald is shown in the Gargoyles episode "Enter MacBeth" to be a cartoon character (as Hudson is shown watching the Quack Pack episode "The Really Mighty Ducks", which logically should be impossible if Gargoyles and the 2017 DuckTales reboot were in the same continuity), not to mention both shows having clashing depictions of Norse mythology and Manny the Headless Man-Horse already being established as DuckTales' equivalent to Goliath.
