"Kiff And Barry Save Halfway There Day" is the forty-sixth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
Synopsis[]
Kiff and Barry go on a wild adventure outside of Table Town to save Halfway There Day!
Plot[]
While watching holiday specials on TV with Barry on Halfway There Day Eve, Kiff notices that Barry is not his usual jolly self, which leads him to admit that he is not in the Halfway There Day spirit. To get him in the holiday mood, Kiff takes Barry to the Table Town Mall, where an actor is meeting shoppers in costume as Centaur Claus. At the mall, the duo run into Helen, who is upset that her ex, the real Centaur Claus, has been ignoring her texts. Seeing an opportunity for a Halfway There Day adventure, Kiff and Barry get Helen to magically send them to the Equator to investigate why Centaur Claus has been ghosting Helen.
Kiff and Barry travel through a magical vortex that takes them to Centaur Claus' island on the Equator. Upon visiting Centaur Claus at his workshop, they find him in an unenthusiastic mood. He invites them inside and explains that he has not been intentionally ghosting Helen. Rather, he has not checked his phone at all in weeks, as he has been dealing with the mysterious disappearance of his magical trash can, without which he cannot make his annual Halfway There Day journey around the world to collect people's discarded New Year's resolutions.
Centaur Claus suspects that the theft is the work of Baby New Year, the patron of New Year's Day, who has always considered Halfway There Day an insult to New Year's Day. However, he cannot act on his suspicion due to the bad optics of fighting with a baby. Meanwhile, Kiff comes to the conclusion that Barry, being a "sensitive soul", has been subconsciously feeling the stress of the situation, and that this explains why he has not been feeling the holiday spirit. The duo offer to visit Baby New Year and reason with him in order to peacefully reclaim the trash can and save Halfway There Day. Centaur Claus goes along with the plan and sends Kiff and Barry through another vortex to the Prime Meridian, where Baby New Year lives.
While traveling through the vortex, Kiff updates Helen on the situation over the phone, unaware that Helen is using her cellphone's speaker setting while having coffee at Pawva's Java. As a result, the call is overheard by the entire restaurant, and word quickly spreads around Table Town about Halfway There Day possibly being cancelled, sending the entire city into a panic. Kiff and Barry end up on a snow-covered mountain on the Prime Meridian, where they find Baby New Year's mansion. Back in Table Town, the situation worsens as the weather turns bleak and stormy, which Professor Totsy later attributes to global weather patterns being affected by Centaur Claus' absence.
Kiff and Barry meet with Baby New Year in his mansion. He confirms that he took the trash can and explains that he did so because in recent years, Halfway There Day has led to people no longer taking their New Year's resolutions seriously and instead making unrealistic resolutions they know they will eventually just give up on. Kiff and Barry propose launching a PR campaign to encourage people to keep their resolutions, but Baby New Year, having not yet had his regularly-scheduled nap, is too cranky to hear them out. The duo resolve to just take back the trash can while he is asleep.
While Baby New Year naps, Kiff and Barry take the trash can, but they end up dropping it numerous times while trying to leave the mansion with it. Baby New Year somehow manages to sleep through all of this, only to be awakened by the sound of one of Barry's drops of sweat falling to the floor. Enraged, he decides to fulfill his resolution to "kick booties" by repeatedly punching Barry, then Kiff. As he prepares to literally kick them out of his mansion, a defeated Kiff and Barry reflect that Kiff at least managed to fulfill her resolution to visit the Prime Meridian, while Barry fulfilled his resolution to "watch Kiff check off an unrealistically challenging resolution". Overhearing this, Baby New Year asks to see the duo's lists of resolutions, and he is surprised to see just how many they have managed to accomplish.
Moved that there are still people in the world who take their New Year's resolutions seriously after all, Baby New Year returns the trash can to Kiff and Barry, and at their request, he gives them a powerful kick that sends them flying all the way back to the Equator. With no time to spare, Centaur Claus, joined by Kiff and Barry, commences his journey around the world. The raging weather settles, and Professor Totsy calls the president to inform her that a Halfway There Day miracle has occurred. The people of Table Town rejoice as Centaur Claus flies over the city to collect everyone's discarded resolutions, and Kiff and Barry are hailed as heroes. To Helen's joy, Centaur Claus finally texts her back, while Barry declares that he has finally regained his holiday spirit.
