"Kiff Escape!" is the second segment of the twenty-ninth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
Synopsis[]
Kiff and the crew must solve an escape room.
Plot[]
Helen wants to take a day off because Partials is having a sale, but Principal Secretary refuses her request because she has already used up all her PTO. In class, Helen overhears Kiff, Barry, Trevor, Candle, Reggie, and Renée complaining about the escape room not permitting players under the age of 16. Helen tells the children that she can create an escape room for them, then transports them into a magical escape room resembling a theater set. An overconfident Kiff asks the attendant monitoring the escape room not to help them unless they get "really stuck".
While searching the room for clues, Barry finds a key and uses it to unlock the door at the center of the room. The children assume that they have beaten the escape room, but when they walk through the door, they find themselves in a digital world. The attendant takes off his disguise, revealing himself to be Helen's computer gremlin, and tells them that they are inside Helen's laptop. On the mirrored desktop screen in front of them, the children see that Helen has received a new email. Trevor, who can easily read backwards, sees that it is about the sale at Partials. Barry notices that the email is marked with a star, leading the children to realize that Helen trapped them in her laptop so that she could go to Partials. The gremlin tells them that they can escape by correctly guessing Helen's password.
At Partials, Helen fights with Michaela over a "super crop top" that they both want to buy. Meanwhile, Kiff opens Helen's password hint folder and finds a picture of Helen looking in a mirror, but the children are unable to decipher the hint and guess the password. Helen's bank then sends her a message asking her to authorize the use of her debit card at Partials. Candle mentions that the bank will freeze the card if Helen does not authorize the purchase, so the children deny authorization to get Helen to return and free them. However, this results in Helen's card also being reported stolen and she is instead detained by security, which the children learn after Helen posts about it on Tooter.
The children are alerted that Helen's laptop battery is now at 5%. The gremlin tells them that if they are still in the laptop when it shuts off, they will be rebooted and lose all their memories. Upon seeing Renée, who likes the laptop's file deletion sound, stuffing files into the recycle bin, Kiff hatches an escape plan. The children fill the recycle bin with more files, creating a tall stack of deleted files. Kiff climbs the stack to reach the email window on Helen's desktop screen and email Principal Secretary for help. Reggie enters Helen's video editing program and stitches together various clips of Helen to create a video message asking Principal Secretary to rescue the children, which Kiff attaches to the email. Principal Secretary receives the email, but he sees that it is from Helen and instinctively deletes it without reading it.
The gremlin refuses to assist the children due to Kiff's earlier request for him not to help them, despite her insistence that they really are stuck. As Kiff says her goodbyes to her friends and compliments their respective skills, Trevor mentions that he learned how to read backwards by practicing using a mirror for 3 months. This causes Kiff to realize why Helen's password hint is a picture of herself looking in a mirror: the password is Helen's name backwards. Kiff enters the correct password, "neleh", and the children escape Helen's laptop just before its battery dies. They all celebrate, with Kiff calling the experience "the best escape room ever".
Helen, still detained in the security office, compliments the guard watching over her as he tries on the super crop top.
