"Kiko" is the second episode of the Disney+ series Baymax!.
Synopsis[]
Baymax hears a telltale "ouch" as he's cruising the streets of San Fransokyo. But his new patient, Kiko, a character inspired by the Japanese American community, doesn't welcome his assistance. In fact, she has no intention of addressing her aches or her fears no matter how many red lollipops Baymax offers.
Plot[]
Kiko Tanaka, an elderly Japanese woman, grumpily goes to check her mail. When she bends over to try and pick up a dropped letter, she suddenly experiences a sharp pain in her hips/lower back. Baymax happens to witness this and stops by to help her, and ulimately suggests that she go to a swimming facility, like the Cedar Street Community Pool (which just so happens to be next door to Kiko's house). Kiko bluntly states that she doesn't swim, which leads to Baymax thinking that Kiko's aquaphobic. This leads to the balloon bot subject the woman to various water interactions, such as: standing in a kiddie pool, playing videos of waterfalls, and spraying her with water (both from a bottle and a hose). However, these efforts only make Kiko angry.
Fed up with Baymax's "help," Kiko dons a headband and gathers up pins in an effort to pop Baymax. She begins to follow him throughout San Fransokyo until she chases him into a building. She discovers too late that it is the swimming facility and breaks down. Kiko finally confesses that she was never afraid of water -- being at the community pool reminds her too much of her late husband, who loved swimming and had spent a lot of time at the Cedar Street Community Pool. In fact, Kiko's husband would always encourage her to join him in the pool, but she never took the chance to swim with him. Baymax tells her that it is not too late and the two of them get into swimming gear and dive into the pool together; snapping a photo of themselves to place next to a photo of Kiko's late husband.
In a post credits scene, Hiro returns home to see that Baymax is still in his swimming gear. He asks if he was swimming, but a flashback shows that he was mostly floating.
