King Candy's chest is a large, brownish-gold chest featured in Disney's 2012 animated feature film Wreck-It Ralph. It was used by King Candy during his takeover of Sugar Rush in 1997. When Turbo entered the game's code and transformed himself into King Candy, he used the chest to lock away the memories of the Sugar Rush inhabitants, making them forget that their ruler was Princess Vanellope von Schweetz. As such, King Candy was able to manipulate the citizens into believing he was their sovereign and that Vanellope was a glitch, and therefore a threat to the game.
Appearances[]
Wreck-It Ralph[]
The chest is first seen in Sour Bill's flashback, where he reveals King Candy's villainy to Ralph and explains that he (and others native to the game) had their memories locked away by the king, which prevents Sour Bill from remembering why King Candy was so intent on keeping Vanellope from becoming a real racer. Sour Bill nevertheless explains that once Vanellope crosses the finish line in a race, the game will reset, and she'll no longer be a glitch. Ralph and Vanellope team up and defeat King Candy (Turbo), thus allowing Vanellope the chance to cross the finish line. Once she does, the game resets, and the chest containing the citizens' memories is destroyed, which in turn freeing them of their bind and the chest is gone for good.
Trivia[]
- An identical chest is located in the throne room of King Candy's castle. The chest within the castle is filled with weaponry and arsenal, including a chainsaw that Duncan briefly tried to use to free Ralph from a giant cupcake.
