"Kole" is the third episode of the Disney+ series Iwájú.

Synopsis[]

Against her father's wishes, Tola goes to the mainland and has her "best day ever" exploring with her best friend, Kole. Otin, a pet lizard robot given to her by her dad, keeps a watchful eye on her, but has challenges keeping up. Bode takes advantage of Kole's ailing mother to force Kole to make a terrible choice between family and his friend.

Plot[]

In flashback, Kole is with his mother who expresses her desire for him to go to school and become a doctor. They go and meet with Bode who offers to give them a loan and, in good faith, tells them that when the time comes, they can pay him back via doing a job for him. In the present, Kole's mother is sick, and he gets a call from Happiness to visit Bode who tells him to help kidnap Tola for him, much to his shock.

Tola manages to convince Godspower to take her and Kole to Ajegunle. While flying there, Tola admits to Kole that her father forbade her to go to the mainland, but convinces him to guide her through the district. As they venture into town, Otin, whom Tola left in the car, begins to discreetly follow them.

The children venture into town where they take in the sights, try out the food, and Tola attempts to help some homeless children. Tola declares that Kole is her "best friend", but a guilty Kole denies this title. As a token of friendship, Tola gives Kole some VR glasses, as his phone is old and busted, but when she mentions that he could use them to call Ms. Happiness (after seeing her name on his phone), he realizes that they are late and tries to lead her away.

As the two attempt to make it back home, Sunday appears and attempts to take Tola, but Kole fights him off. Otin witnesses the fight and heads to them, but suddenly powers down, sending a signal to Tunde. Tola and Kole run away, but get split up while doing so. As Tola asks a stranger for help, the stranger turns out to be Happiness.
