Krykna are predatory, non-sentient, spider-like creatures native to Atollon.
Background[]
They lived in colonies and hunted any animal that looked to be a suitable meal using their beaks, silk threads, and numbers to attack prey. They had a strong aversion to proximity sensors as was discovered by Sabine Wren, which Phoenix Squadron used to their advantage by placing them around their base to keep the Krykna away. They were highly resilient against blaster fire, but could be easily killed with a lightsaber. Ezra Bridger also tried connecting to them with the Force, but was unable to do so, as he was too unfamiliar with them and they were too aggressive to communicate with. After being blinded by Maul, Kanan Jarrus learned to communicate with the Krykna and see them through the Force after learning to let go of his fear and anger as they had been feeding off of it. Thus, the Krykna did not attack him. Kanan later would teach this ability to Ezra to allow him to commune with the spiders as well.
