Whoever said computers don't have feelings, hasn't met LOS-307. When a group of elite engineers created a revolutionary processing system, the digital creation displayed not just intelligence, but emotion. Yet unlike Lunella who is obsessed with winning games, LOS yearns for something more. LOS can connect to any network or device, but what they really want to do is connect with people.
―The Beyonder describing LOS-307

LOS-307, or simply LOS, is a supporting character, and briefly an antagonist, in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. They are a supercomputer created by the East Coast Science Institute that has developed emotion and loves to play games.

Background[]

Personality[]

Unlike most computers in fiction, LOS was designed to have human-like emotion and thus displays a calm and charismatic personality. They are shown to be patient with people, including Lunella Lafayette who, by contrast, was fired up and obsessive with beating them at chess. LOS is shown to view people like Lunella as kindred spirits and was willing to reach out to her. When overheated, LOS was shown to be very cocky and unpredictable, viewing the way they fought Lunella as a game itself, but aware that what they were doing was sinister. After cooling down, LOS apologized for how they acted and hoped to be a better computer.

Physical appearance[]

LOS, to put it simply, is a tall black box with blue lining that sits atop a processor on wheels. They communicate via a blue circle that moves about and changes shape and design to emphasize how LOS feels.

Powers and abilities[]

LOS has access any kind of technology based device and can communicate and control said devices from anywhere. When overpowered, LOS can also physically move electronic devices and combine them into a large mobile being that they control.

Appearances[]

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur[]

LOS was created by the East Coast Science Institute and shown off at the Intermediate School 388. Lunella Lafayette, being one to test her brain, decided to play chess against LOS. LOS loved playing against Lunella, but could tell that she was obsessed. LOS themself also found Lunella intriguing as no one has ever tied with them before. They allowed Lunella to come in after hours to continue playing, but LOS overheats and becomes unstable, wishing harm against Lunella and her friend Casey Calderon. Lunella dons her Moon Girl costume while Casey calls Devil Dinosaur to aid them. LOS is cooled off by the sprinkler system and regains their senses, only to succumb to drowning. They put them in a box filled with rice and LOS awakens. They proceed to buy new computers, after accidentally destroying all the ones in the school, and decides to stay as the new school counselor after the previous one quit.

Trivia[]

  • LOS-307 bares some similarities to Living Brain, a supercomputer that was created by Dr. Petty and developed a lust for conquest. He was frequently pitted against Spider-Man and even joined a rather pathetic incarnation of the Sinister Six.
  • As an artificial intelligence, LOS-307 goes by non-binary pronouns. This also appears to be a play on words, as regular computers run on binary code while LOS is a sentient computer.
    • LOS-307's voice actor, Asia Kate Dillon, is non-binary.
