- “Maki Matsumoto. Criminally known as Lady Bullseye. Leads one of the most notorious thieving groups in New York City. With her stealthy swipers, the Diabolical Darts, she executes high level heists all around New York. Her only rule: No one ever gets out.”
- ―Beyonder describes Lady Bullseye
Lady Bullseye is a Marvel Comics character that appeared in Hit Monkey, voiced by Reiko Aylesworth, and appeared in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, voiced by Miki Yamashita.
She is a fierce assassin who modelled herself after Bullseye. Just like him, in her hands anything is a weapon, and she never misses. She is often allied with large criminal empires.
Lady Bullseye was created by Ed Brubaker and Clay Mann.
Background[]
Abilities[]
Lady Bullseye, just like her source of inspiration, is a master assassin and tactician. She has an incredible skill set that primarily focuses on using objects, particularly any sharp object, as a weapon which she can fling from any distance with great accuracy. She is also proficient in using close range weaponry such as katana.
Appearances[]
Hit-Monkey[]
The series features two versions of the character. Maki Matsumoto, the original version, spends the series going after Hit-Monkey when she discovers that he is being assisted by the ghost of Bryce Fowler, another hit-man and an old associate of Maki's. She is ultimately killed by police officer Haruka after being held down by Bryce. When Hit-Monkey kills corrupted politician Shinji Yokohama, his niece Akiko Yokohama, who spent the season helping Hit-Monkey, turns on him and vows revenge, adopting Lady Bullseye's mask.
In season two, Maki returns as a ghost, similar to Bryce, to influence Akiko in getting revenge. When the two locate Hit-Monkey, Bryce, Haruka, Bryce's daughter Iris, and his handler Eunice to the latter's safehouse, a fight breaks out with Akiko battling Haruka and Maki battling Bryce. Just like Bryce, Maki is weak against salt. Eventually, Akiko turns on Maki by jumping into the ocean. The extreme salt content causes Maki to disintegrate and, presumably, banishes her to Hell.
Later, Akiko confronts Hit-Monkey and the two fight, ending with both of them dying.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur[]
Lady Bullseye appears in the episode "Ride or Die" where she is the leader of the underground criminal gang, the Diabolical Darts. She institutes a passive-aggressive team building type training with her lackeys with her motto being "Make crafts, make laughs, and make them pay!" It is established that Maki recruited and trained Quickwhip, but following her defection, has spent some time chasing after her former protégé. When Moon Girl attempts to bring Quickwhip in, Maki and her gang corner them in the subway, but is defeated by the pair.
