Lake Buena Vista is a city in Orange County, Florida. The Walt Disney World Resort is partially located in Lake Buena Vista, and Lake Buena Vista serves as the resort's mailing address, though all four theme parks and both water parks are actually located in the adjacent city of Bay Lake. Both municipalities are controlled by the Walt Disney Company. The small ex-swamp is commonly misconceived to be a part of the neighboring city, Orlando.
Prior to Disney's ownership of the land, the lake was known as Black Lake. While technically not a lake, it was once a swamp that was purchased by Walt Disney Productions to start what Walt Disney dubbed "The Florida Project".
