Lashana is a minor character feature in the 2023 live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. She is the maid of Selina's castle.
She is based on Carlotta from the 1989 animated film.
Role in the film[]
Lashana first appears during the musical number "For the First Time" when a fisherman named "Joshua" tries to get her attention as he tells her to put Ariel in a safe place, which Joshua thinks that Ariel will survive in the castle. She and Joshua take Ariel upstairs to help her feel comfortable just before another servant named "Rosa" enters while trying to get Ariel cleaned up and later dressing her up. The next day, Lashana talks to Grimsby telling him if he would get into trouble with Queen Selina for sparing a carriage to Eric after Selina told Eric not to go on any more voyages until he feels better in the past day.
On the third day, Ariel rushes past Lashana while finding Grimsby and Queen Selina about Eric who was looking for Ariel. During the wedding, she is seen holding Eric's pet dog Max who sees Scuttle attempting to remove the shell necklace from Vanessa's neck which Lashana reacts in shock just before Ariel snatches the necklace from Vanessa who then reveals to be Ursula in disguise upon smashing the necklace. As Ursula reveals her true form, Lashana became aware that Ursula revealed her true form, causing her and the surviving attendees to retreat when she reveals herself as a sea monster.
At the end of the film, Lashana is seen approaching Eric worried that she was looking for him all along, alongside Queen Selina, Grimsby, and Rosa just before the Queen goes into a discussion with Eric. During the wedding between Eric and Ariel, Lashana later became aware of Ariel and Eric bidding a farewell to the castle servants as they both travel the world together via boat, alongside the residents of the ocean.
