The Laughing Turtles are characters featured in the Disney Parks.
Background[]
These two turtles, as their names suggest, are a duo of laughing reptiles who appear in the "Everybody's Got a Laughing Place" sequence in Splash Mountain.
Development history[]
Due to the success of the Splash Mountain attraction at Disneyland, Splash Mountain was later constructed at Frontierland at Magic Kingdom and Critter Country Tokyo Disneyland respectively, the imagineering team created the two turtle animatronics.
As of 2020, Splash Mountain was announced for closure in order to remove all references to Song of the South due to controversy surrounding the film which the attraction is based on to make way for a Princess and the Frog-themed attraction. Therefore, it is currently unknown what will replace the animatronic turtles in the reimagined version of the attraction while the Oriental Land Company has not yet announced whether to retheme the Tokyo Disneyland version of Splash Mountain or not. The Magic Kingdom version of Splash Mountain permanently closed on January 23, 2023.
Appearances[]
In the Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland's version of the attraction, the two turtles are seen during the "Everybody's Got a Laughing Place" sequence as they are going up and down on small geysers laughing and singing, next to some Singing Bullfrogs.
