"Lazy Countryside" is a song sung in Fun and Fancy Free. It is heard when Bongo decides to relax in the countryside around him after failing to climb up a tree like the squirrels after being free from performing at the circus just as Bongo explores the forest around him. The song then ends when all the woodland creatures prepare to sleep alongside Bongo himself.

Lyrics

Dinah Shore: I love to hang around
The lazy countryside
Chorus: Where things are nice and breezy
With nature's gang around
The lazy countryside
Chorus: Where life is twice as easy
Dinah Shore: Where the crickets you don't hear in the city
Keep a-hummin' in your ear, oh, so pretty

And it's just too much for words
Listenin' to the chorus of the birds

I like to stay around
The lazy countryside
Chorus: And while away the hours
Dinah Shore: Just kind of play around
The lazy countryside
Chorus: As free as bees and flowers

Dinah Shore: There's more fun in takin' the sun in
And to roam the spaces wide
It's the place for me
Gee, but it's great to be
'Round the lazy countryside

(instrumental)

There's more fun in takin' the sun in
And to roam the spaces wide
It's the place for me
Gee, but it's great to be
'Round the lazy countryside
