Leota's Spellbook is a book of spells from the Haunted Mansion attraction at the Disney Parks.

Description[]

This spellbook contains a number of spells which Madame Leota uses in Gracey Manor. Leota also uses incantations she uses in the Séance Room. The spellbook seen in the attraction depicts the book already open containing pages 1312 to 1313 on it, containing the section "A Spell to Bring to Your Eyes and Ears One Who is Bound in Limbo". Below it is an incantation which reads, Kree Kruh Vergo Gaba Kalto Kree. Below the said incantation are the lines recited by Leota said in rhymes.

The lines said by Leota included in the book are as follows:

"Serpents and spiders, tail of a rat,
Call in the spirits wherever they're at!

Rap on a table — it's time to respond,
Send us a message from somewhere beyond!

Goblins and ghoulies from last Halloween,
Awaken the spirits with your tambourine!

Creepies and crawlies, toads in a pond,
Let there be music from regions beyond!

Wizards and witches, wherever you dwell,
Give us a hint, by ringing a bell!"

Appearances[]

The Haunted Mansion[]

In every version of the attraction at Haunted Mansion, Leota's spellbook is placed in the Séance Room area, followed by Leota herself included in the same room. She would often say the incantation used in the book as the guests riding on their Doom Buggies pass through the area. Leota's incantation continuously loops throughout the area in the attraction.

Due to the success of the attraction at Disneyland, the Haunted Mansion attraction was later constructed at Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland, still featuring Madame Leota and her spellbook.

Memento Mori[]

Located in the Liberty Square gift shop is a portrait of Madame Leota who has her spellbook open beside her crystal ball on Page 1315.

Other appearances[]

Haunted Mansion (2023)[]

This spellbook also appears in the 2023 reboot of the original attraction used by Harriet to summon Madame Leota. On the first page of the book is a warning giving an alert to readers who use Leota's book the wrong way. The warning seen on the first page of the book says as followed:

"Property of Madame Leota

If this does not belong to you,
Do Not turn another page!"

Trivia[]

  • Each page featured in the book has the head of a screaming devil seen on the entrance plaque on the top of the page.
  • The incantation "Kree Kruh Vergo Gaba Kalto Kree" is actually a line which originated from the classic 1968 Disney film, Blackbeard's Ghost, a spell that was used to materialize the ghost of the notorious pirate captain, Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard.
