- “Boy, oh boy!”
- ―Lester's catchphrase
Lester Goldberg is one of Stanley's friends in Stanley. He even slept over at Stanley's house in "Gorilla Sleepover".
Physical appearance[]
Lester's body is structured in a more rectangular/cylindrical shape in contrast to the other characters of the main four kids. He has fair skin and, like Stanley, doesn't have much hair, with only four visible strands on the top of his head. He often wears a white T-shirt with light blue sleeves, navy blue shorts and red sneakers with white soles.
Personality[]
Lester is a young, energetic, imaginative, and happy-go-lucky kid who enjoys playing with his friends. He is often seen as curious, naive and sometimes a little clumsy, but still manages to keep his spirits high. He's known to have a wild imagination and often sees things bigger than life. Although, there are times when his imagination can get the best of him, such as when he believed Walter was a wolf after bumping into him, which made him a little scared.
No matter what the situation, Lester is always ready to tag along with his friends, especially Stanley. Whenever possible, Lester is there to lighten the mood and give the others a good laugh (intentionally or not). He would often say "oh boy, oh boy" when he is excited or intrigued.
He's also known to be as clever as he is humorous. One example is in "Proud as a Peacock", where he invented his signature 'giggle hiccups'.
During the first half of season one, Lester had a more nasally voice, but later became more higher pitched and childlike, yet still maintained the lisp.
Relationships[]
Stanley[]
Lester is one of Stanley's best friends. As Stanley put it best, they are great pals and have lots of fun together. However, they are known to have their disagreements from time to time, such as when they argued about dragons being real or not. Even so, they still have each other's backs and are willing to help one another. For instance, when Lester slept over at Stanley's house, Stanley helped him feel at home when he couldn't sleep.
While Lester is normally accompanied by the twins, Marci and Mimi, he and Stanley do occasionally hang out together (alongside Dennis) by themselves.
Dennis[]
Dennis is often accompanied with Stanley whenever he and Lester meet. As such, he often gives advice to the two boys and informs them of any specific animal that the episode focuses on. More often than not, Dennis acts as both the parental figure and voice of reason to the boys. Whenever they try to do something extreme (i.e. freeing the mandrills), Dennis immediately steps in to stop them.
In Jackrabbit Hide-and-Seek, Dennis joins Lester into the Great Big Book of Everything to learn about jackrabbits so that Lester can get better at hide and seek.
Marci[]
Mimi[]
In "Muddy Buddies", he and Mimi both refuse to go in the mud puddle with Stanley and Marci, fearing that their parents would get upset if they did. Even when going into the Great Big Book of Everything to learn about pigs, he doesn't want to get close to them to avoid getting dirty.
Samantha[]
As with many siblings, the two of them have a fairly good relationship. However, he often has a set of earmuffs in case she screams and throws tantrums.

Trivia[]
- Lester first appeared in "Bearly Awake", albeit a fantasy sequence. He wouldn't get an official speaking role until Platypus Problems.
- Out of the main four, Lester is the only child to be voiced by an adult female at the time the show was produced, whereas Stanley and the twins were voiced by children at the time (all of which are female).[1]
- He also speaks with a slight lisp.
- In episodes like Roller Rhino and Sunburn Stanley, his parents are often hinted to be somewhat overprotective, as Lester is seen as wearing too much unnecessary safety gear.
- Lester is the first (and only) one of Stanley's friends to go into the Great Big Book of Everything without Stanley accompanying him.
- He is known to really like gorillas, as can be seen in several episodes.
- He also seems to like peanut butter, as many of his favorite foods involve it.
- In the episode "Double-Duty Dad", he thinks it is weird that out of all of the kids in his class, Stanley is taken care of and taken to and from school by his father instead of his mother, who is the one going to work.
- According to "Little Dog Lost", Lester is Jewish and celebrates Hanukkah.
- He is also shown to be very knowledgeable, as in Stanley's Dinosaur Round-Up, he is able to fully describe what a paleontologist is.
- Also according to Stanley's Dinosaur Round-Up, his dream is to become a podiatrist like his father and rid the world of bunions.
