In addition, in that same scene once Joy wakes up after being kissed by the prince, she at first mistakes the prince for one of the dwarfs.

Brad disagrees to watch it, asking "Aw, who wants to see some dumb cartoon rated 'G' for kids?" Roy then tells him that he is going to see Pinocchio tomorrow night after asking about his age and if he wants to be nine years old. When Ronnie says that "is a terrific way to win over your children," Roy replies "I'm not serious, I'm just saying that I grew up with Pinocchio, and if kids are still kids, they're going to eat it up." Later, he tells the children "Okay, let's have a vote. Tomorrow night you can play Goofy golf, which is a lot of standing in line and shoving and pushing, and probably getting a 'zero,' or you can see Pinocchio, which is a lot of furry animals and magic, and you'll have a wonderful time." The children all vote for golf.

  • The character John Hammond (the founder of Jurassic Park) is reminiscent of Walt Disney, and his park Disneyland. Even both director Steven Spielberg and Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton describe the character as "the dark side of Walt Disney."
  • Hammond notes that all major theme parks have delays and that nothing worked, when Disneyland opened in 1956. To which Ian Malcolm replies: "Yeah, but, John, if the Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists".

  • Jacquimo's character is similar to that of Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio, albeit with the "birdbrains" of Scuttle from The Little Mermaid, and the thick French accent reminiscent of Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast.
  • Jacquimo's introduction song into the film is similar to that to the introduction song "When You Wish Upon a Star" of Pinocchio, including the classic "book opening" sequence from various Disney movies produced during Walt Disney's lifetime.
  • The film's main protagonist, Thumbelina, shares the same red hair and voice as Ariel from The Little Mermaid (co-incidentally both female leads are voiced by Jodi Benson), and has the same "reactive" character traits of the earliest Disney Princesses, most notably Snow White and Aurora. In addition, Thumbelina has a flat characterization of having no personality aside from wanting to be with her true love similar to Aurora.
  • Thumbelina was born fully grown and with clothing on, similar to how Pinocchio was born in Pinocchio.
  • Hero the dog bears a striking resemblance to Pluto but with a moustache.
  • The opening song "Thumbelina" is reminiscent to the song "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast.
  • Prince Cornelius is attracted to Thumbelina's beautiful slinging voice, similar to how Prince Phillip is attracted to Aurora's beautiful singing voice in Sleeping Beauty. Just like in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty, Cornelius and Thumbelina's first encounter is very similar in the sense that the female lead gets frightened at first once approached by the prince, only to be completely swooned off her feet by the prince. In addition, the way Cornelius breaks in into Thumbelina's home is similar to that of Peter Pan's.
  • The entire sequence where Prince Cornelius and Thumbelina go exploring on a bee ride around the garden while singing the romantic duet "Let Me Be Your Wings" is very similar to that of "A Whole New World" from Aladdin.
  • The film's main antagonist, Grundel Toad, is a dimwitted, Mexican version of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, and his romantic obsession towards Thumbelina is reminiscent to that to Gaston's romantic obsession towards Belle.
  • Thumbelina encounters the Jitterbugs in the same way Snow White first encounters the forest animals in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
  • When Grundel Toad and Berkeley Beetle team up to find Thumbelina, their relationship is similar to that of Jafar and Iago from Aladdin (co-incidentally, Gilbert Gottfried, Iago's voice actor, also provided the voice of Berkeley Beetle in this film).

  • Wallace goes in through a dark tunnel that resembles the tunnel entrance to Toontown in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
  • When Wallace doesn't believe that Gromit's telling him that he's the Were-Rabbit, he calls his dog "Silly old Pooch" which is a based on the line "Silly old bear" said by Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh.
  • Before Victor fires his gun at Wallace the Were-Rabbit, he says "Eat carrot, Bunny Boy!" which is the name Tigger calls Rabbit.
