"Look Who's Scared Now!" is the first segment of the sixteenth episode of Vampirina. It premiered on February 16, 2018 alongside "Dust Bunnies".
Plot[]
The Hauntleys are getting ready for the town-iversary celebration, which is like a birthday party, but for a town. Their Pennsylvanian town is turning two hundred fifty years old. Vampirina mentions that it's their first town celebration with their new friends and neighbors. Boris states that all Pennsylvanians go to the town-iversary. What the Hauntleys need is some town spirit. Demi overhears this. Boris gives Oxana a pink and white (matching the town colors) flag with Beary, the official town mascot. Boris puts the glasses with the same color on to look like a proud Pennsylvanian before the Hauntleys rehearse the Pennsylvanian cheer. Demi mentions that Boris made it up one day in the shower. Demi wants to go to the event, and Vampirina tells him that he'll hide in the picnic basket if the Hauntleys take out some food. Gregoria decides to go, as well.
Just then, Poppy and Bridget arrive. Poppy mentions that Edna and Edgar are at the park, but she wanted to come alongside Bridget to the celebration, since it's the Hauntley's first time and they've never seen fireworks before. The Hauntleys, Poppy, and Bridget pick a perfect spot, one close to the celebration, but far away from Demi and Gregoria. Just then, Edna arrives and is reassured by Oxana that there are no wicked trolls today; they used to invade celebrations back in Transylvania by cursing an entire town with their sparkling magic. Edna also notices Gregoria frozen in place.
As the celebration begins, Gregoria drinks the lemonade given to him by Edna, who decides to get more. Demi appears just as the town marching band is about to begin. Vampirina gets scared by the sound of a trombone during the warm-up. She mentions that they were a little surprised, but Gregoria states that Demi looks terrified. Wolfie spots a big, scary balloon, which is Beary, scaring everyone due to his eyes staring everyone down. Vampirina pulls Demi down after he is attracted by the balloon, but Demi mentions what makes it scary just as Edna arrives. He states that Demi, who looks like a balloon, is the coolest balloon ever. Demi suggests that the Hauntleys go home, but Gregoria rejects it.
Poppy states that the fireworks will start as soon as it gets dark. She also mentions that Vampirina doesn't have fireworks back in Transylvania. Just then, the fireworks begin, and they are loud. They then look like wicked trolls, and Vampirina mentions that the magical sparkles will cast a spell on the entire town. Oxana mentions that it is just like when the trolls enchanted the Hauntleys' town in Transylvania. Vampirina then repeatedly turned into a bat due to the situation. Poppy tries to get her to calm down, but the fireworks cause the Hauntleys to all turn to bats and go home.
The Peeplesons and Bridget then arrive at the Scare B&B, but the Hauntleys are hiding, as Boris thinks that the trolls are coming to cast their spell on them. Vampirina mentions that it could be Poppy, and Demi decides to go through the wall to see who is there. Gregoria opens the door and reveals himself to the visitors, but Poppy closes the door and Bridget states that the Hauntleys have changed into bats, but Poppy corrects it to bathrobes. Edna checks the house, and Vampirina reveals herself. Poppy, thinking she's seen everything, decides for Edna and Edgar to go back to the town-iversary.
Vampirina then hides with the other Hauntleys. Bridget checks if they're okay, and they say they're nervous. Bridget states that it's strange to see someone besides her get scared for a change. The Hauntleys then learn that it is not so much fun to be scared. Poppy states that everyone, even vampires, get scared sometimes. Poppy and Bridget say that it's their turn to show the Hauntleys that there's nothing to be scared of. They reassure them that there is no wicked troll magic; the fireworks look the same every year. The sparkles and the booms are a part of the show. Vampirina mentions that just because something's different, doesn't mean it's scary. As a result, Vampirina doesn't feel scared anymore, and this delights Oxana and Boris. Poppy states that the town wouldn't be the same without the Hauntleys, who decide to catch the rest of the fireworks. With everyone enjoying the show, Demi states that he's warming up to Beary. Vampirina thanks Poppy and Bridget for helping the Hauntleys, and they say that there's nothing to be afraid of, not with friends like them. Demi then creates a pink model of Beary, and Poppy restates how important the Hauntleys are to the town.
