"Louie's Eleven!" is the fifty-fourth episode of DuckTales. It premiered on April 25, 2020 and is the fifth episode of the third season.

Plot

The Three Caballeros, Donald Duck, José Carioca and Panchito, are trying to perfect their music by getting Scrooge to sponsor them, only to be kicked out by Duckworth. Louie approaches them and reveals that he wants to use them for a scheme he is devising that could potentially result in them getting recognized. With no other choice, they become members of "Louie's Eleven", a scheme that involves crashing the It Gala hosted by Emma Glamour, a wealthy socialite who is famous for announcing what is the new "it". Louie claims the title of being "The Brains" while the Caballeros are "The Talent". Dewey, who wants a chance to show off his abilities in an effort to be recognized by Emma, is labeled "The Specialist", though the title is vague at this point.

Together, they get Huey ("The Forger") to unknowingly create fake passes for them, and Gyro ("The Tech Guru") to make small communication devices for them all. As they stake out the gala, Louie explains that in order to get a VIP to perform they need to get the ID belonging to Daisy Duck, Glamour's assistant whom Donald becomes infatuated with. They show up in line only to learn that the lead security guard is Falcon Graves who almost recognizes Dewey from their previous encounter. They manage to get passed him and Dewey gets Funzone employee Jane ("The Inside Woman") to spill a drink onto Daisy. Donald then follows her into the elevator.

Next, Falcon stands by Glamour's side. In order to get close to her, Louie has Dewey release a Harpy ("The Diversion") into the air vents so that Falcon can take care of it; disappointing Dewey as it was his only job. As Donald and Daisy end up in the elevator together, Webby ("The Tactician") cuts the power to the elevator to give Donald more time. Unfortunately, Donald is unsuccessful in his attempt to get Daisy's badge and breaks down what is actually happening to her.

Louie goes up to Glamour to try and speak with her, but Glamour has already caught on to his plan and explains that every year someone tries to pull a similar stunt to try to get a band that they represent to come and perform for her so that they can get money and tells Louie that he is unoriginal. As Louie is vexed by the unexpected turn, Falcon reveals that he plans to rob the gala with Gabby, Hack and Slash and has everyone tied up. Louie calls upon Manny, the Headless Man-Horse ("The Muscle"), but he is easily defeated.

Back in the elevator, Daisy is upset with Donald for ruining her chances of finally being recognized by Glamour and being more than just her assistant. Donald relates as he feels that nobody listens to or understands him, which ironically Daisy admits that she can understand him perfectly. She decides to listen to him sing and despite Donald singing in his typical duck voice, Daisy can only hear a perfect sounding singing voice. The two decide to escape and come across Falcon and his goons holding the party hostage.

Falcon takes Glamour's phone, which apparently is priceless, for his employer, which unfortunately for him turns out to be Mark Beaks who is Glamour's son, much to his fury. Dewey decides to perform a yo-yo routine that he had been working on which despite being terrible, fascinates everyone into a trance. Glamour applauds it and a fight over the phone ensues with Donald and Daisy teaming up to take down Falcon while the rest of their friends take on Gabby and Hack and Slash.

Afterwards, Glamour quickly blames Daisy for the disaster, but Donald backs her up and together finally talk back to Glamour, who calms down and compliments Daisy's dress. Louie apologizes for not listening to Dewey and he suggests that he help him out in their next scheme. The Caballeros perform with Donald taking the lead. Everyone is annoyed at hearing his voice. As Dewey and Louie comment on Donald's terrible singing, Daisy states that she thinks it sounds good as she and Donald share a glance.

Trivia

  • The title is a reference to the film Ocean's Eleven.
    • In addition, Louie's plan of using eleven different individuals as part of his plan is also a nod to this film.
    • Louie's second plan, The Dewey Dozen, references The Dirty Dozen.
  • Despite having been a long established character of the Duckburg universe, this is the first time that Daisy Duck makes an appearance in any version of DuckTales.
  • When Daisy is directing the workers, she refers to one of them as Rosa. This could be a nod to Don Rosa who famously worked on comics centered on Scrooge McDuck.
  • Tress MacNeille is the fourth voice performer to return as her common Disney character in the series, with Tony Anselmo as Donald Duck, Corey Burton as Professor Ludwig Von Drake and Bill Farmer as Goofy.
  • Daisy's hairstyle in this episode is a nod towards the classic Disney short Donald's Diary.
  • Apparently Daisy can understand Donald talking just fine.
  • This episode marks Bebe Neuwirth's first return to Disney TV animation after Pepper Ann, in which she voiced Ms. Bladder.
  • Emma Glamour is revealed to be Mark Beaks' mother.
  • At the party, there is a statue of a hippo ballerina which may be a tribute to Hyacinth Hippo from the Disney film Fantasia.
  • Percival P. Peppington from Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake! and one of the Harpies from Storkules in Duckburg! make a reappearance, as does Manny the Headless Man-Horse, while M'Ma Crackshell-Cabrera makes a silent appearance, arresting Falcon Graves.
  • Donald's singing voice for the song "Hear My Voice" is performed by Dominic Lewis who serves as the series' composer.
  • When Donald bursts out of the vents he shouts "Yippee Ki-Yay, Mr. Falcon!" This is possibly a nod to the Die Hard franchise.
    • It's specifically a reference to a TV edit of Die Hard 2, where John McClain's repeat of his famous line from the first movie is dubbed over with "Yippee Ki-Yay, Mr. Falcon!" to remove an expletive.
