"M is for Mercy" is the thirteenth episode of the second season and the thirty-ninth episode overall of W.I.T.C.H. It first aired September 9, 2006.

Summary

Shagon, the Hate returns to Heatherfield as his old self, Matt Olsen, and goes after Will Vandom and her mom. Will is fighting with her mom because her mom drags her on a date with Mr. Collins.

On the date Will and her mom have a huge fight and Will walks away and comes face to face with Shagon, who attacks her and she's without the other Guardians for help. Meanwhile, Nerissa Crossnic corrupts Cassidy's spirit into joining her.

In the B-story, Will begins not being angry for her mother's and teacher's relationship. Will still is confused on her way of life, fighting in human form and in Guardian form is wearing her down. Then they ate fried chicken.

Trivia

• Cassidy makes her first appearance in this episode (her appearance in K is for Knowledge doesn't count because she was only seen in the back-story).
• It is implied that the reason why Shagon was so merciful to Will is because he still harbors Matt's strong feelings for Will.
• Although Shagon appears in this episode, the other Knights of Destruction don't.
• Part of the battle against Shagon in this episode was cut due to an extreme use of violence.
